Brad joined Keeneland in June 2009 as Director of Information Technology. Lovell brings to Keeneland a career’s wealth of IT knowledge and experience. Since joining Keeneland, Lovell has implemented a number of strategic initiatives including the design and launch of online portfolios for buyers and consignors, the redesign of Keeneland.com and a long-term strategic plan.
Prior to joining Keeneland, Lovell was the Managing Director of Information Technology for NASCAR. He was responsible for several key technology initiatives related to timing and scoring, tracking licensing agreements, and assisting in securing corporate sponsorships. From 2003 to 2009, Lovell reinvented the IT department and implemented a five year strategic plan that enabled the automation and streamlining of the competition process.
Prior to joining NASCAR, Lovell was the Director of Information Resources for Brown-Forman, the Louisville based corporation featuring brands such as Jack Daniels, Canadian Mist, and Southern Comfort. From 1996 to 2003, he managed project related to sales and marketing and operations. Among his duties were studying the entire production operation and looking for ways where technology could improve processes and reduce costs—where a 1% gain in efficiency could be worth millions of dollars in revenue down the line.
Before joining Brown-Forman, Lovell was Director of Store Systems for Rally’s Hamburgers. Brad was responsible for supporting over 350 stores nationwide and developing systems to track labor and food costs. Lovell’s team was on the leading edge of restaurant technology and was first to introduce a video ordering system.
He started his career in Huntsville, Alabama supporting programs related to the Strategic Defense Initiative in the mid-80’s. As Director of Information Systems his team was responsible for development of applications to track SDI projects and financial budgets. He headed the User Support group that addressed and resolved software and hardware issues for over 1000 desktops across the world.
Lovell was born in Lexington and attended the University of Kentucky. He has a BS in Computer Science and a MS in Project Management. He is a certified Project Management Professional.
In his current duties, Brad is responsible for the Information Technology and Mutuels departments. “I’m extremely excited to be here at Keeneland. I love the industry and I think my experiences align very well to help move it forward using technology”, Lovell said. “Over the past 18 months the IT team has introduced several tools to help support our sales process. Our customers have been very receptive to the tools and continue to make suggestions on how to improve.”
Brad and his wife Kathleen have two children. Allyson and Charlie.
