Horses with Keeneland connections swept five of the nine Breeders’ Cup races on Saturday at Santa Anita. Wise Dan, winner of Keeneland’s Shadwell Turf Mile (G1), returned on to win the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) in course-record time and establish himself as a leading Horse of the Year contender. Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) winner Groupie Doll was an impressive winner of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1).
Keeneland sales graduates swept the top three spots in the Breeders’ Cup juvenile races – Shanghai Bobby, He’s Had Enough and Capo Bastone finished 1-2-3 in the Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), while George Vancouver, Noble Tune and Balance the Books ran 1-2-3 in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). Keeneland-sold Mizdirection and Unbridled’s Note finished 1-2 in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1).
