Keeneland sales graduates, led by I’ll Have Another, Royal Delta, Certify and Elusive Kate, top the 2012 World Thoroughbred Rankings announced recently by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness (G1) winner I’ll Have Another was rated the top three-year-old in the world at 125 pounds. Bodemeister, runner-up to I’ll Have Another in both classics, ranked second at 124 pounds. Paynter, winner of the Haskell Invitational (G1), was awarded 121 pounds to be the top three-year-old in the world at medium distances. All three colts were sold at Keeneland’s 2010 September Yearling Sale.
Champion Royal Delta, sold for $8.5 million at the 2011 November Breeding Stock Sale, earned a ranking of 121 pounds to be the top-weighted filly in the world on dirt. The five-year-old daughter of Empire Maker won the 2012 Beldame Invitational (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1).
September Sale alum and Shadwell Fillies’ Mile (G1) winner Certify was assigned 114 pounds to rank as Europe’s top two-year-old filly. What a Name (IRE), a graduate of Keeneland’s 2012 April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, rated second at 111 pounds.
Elusive Kate, winner of the 2012 Prix Rothschild (G1), repeated as top of her class, receiving high weight of 116 pounds to be the best three-year-old filly in Europe at medium distances. The Elusive Quality filly, a graduate of the 2010 September Sale, earned honors as top two-year-old filly in 2011.
