The Challenge Cup was inaugurated on October 11, 1984, in honor of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, who attended the races and presented a trophy on that date during her private visit to Central Kentucky. Lane’s End Farm of Versailles, Ky., became the sponsor in 2014.
The $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) presented by Lane's End will be run on Sat. Oct. 15 for 3yo fillies going 1 1/8 miles on the turf. This race is filled by invitation only.
