Paynter, Elusive Kate Win Big Home and Abroad

Paynter and Elusive Kate, both graduates of Keeneland’s 2010 September Yearling Sale, were dominating in their respective stakes performances at home and abroad on Sunday. Keeneland-sold horses finished 1-2-3 in the $1 million Haskell Invitational (G1) at Monmouth Park, in which Zayat Stables’ Paynter powered to a 3¾-length win, followed by Nonios and Stealcase. The Haskell victory establishes Paynter among the top three-year-old colts in North America and a strong contender for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in November. At Deauville, Teruya Yoshida’s Elusive Kate was clearly best in the Prix Rothschild (G1), never relinquishing command while romping to an easy 1¼- length victory.
