Keeneland has partnered with Budweiser Select to offer you the opportunity to become King for a Day! Two winners will be chosen- one from Kentucky and one from outside of Kentucky. The Sweepstakes will run from September 1st-30th, 2010 and the winners will have their “King for a Day” experience on the 16th of October during the Keeneland Fall Meet, which runs from October 8th-30th, 2010.

Forty Keeneland sales alumni are entered in this weekend’s graded stakes, including five starters in Saturday’s Shadwell Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga.

Keeneland sales graduates were global Grade 1 winners this week. In the United States, alumni captured Grade 1 stakes on both coasts – Paddy O’Prado in the Secretariat and Evening Jewel in the Del Mar Oaks. At Deauville, Dream Ahead won the Darley Prix Morny (G1), while Keeneland grads swept Russia’s Grade 1 stakes, highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish in the Russian Derby at Moscow.

This weekend’s graded stakes entries feature such Keeneland sales stars as champion Gio Ponti, seeking his second consecutive Arlington Million (G1) title; the top three-year-old fillies Devil May Care, Crisp and Evening Jewel, competing in the Betfair TVG Alabama (G1) and Del Mar Oaks (G1), respectively; and the nation’s best three-year-old turf horse, Paddy O’Prado, set to go postward in the Secretariat (G1).

| | September Sale Grad Kantharos Romps in Saratoga Special | | August 17, 2010 |
Keeneland congratulates September Yearling Sale graduate Kantharos on his easy 7¼- length win in Monday’s Saratoga Special Stakes (G2).
The Lion Heart colt, owned by Stonestreet Stables, has dominated the juvenile ranks where he is undefeated in three career starts. Those wins have come by a combined total of 28½ lengths.
Kantharos was bred in Kentucky by Hedberg Hall and consigned to the 2009 September Sale by Dave Parrish Jr.’s Indian Creek. He was purchased for $80,000 by Nick Sallusto, agent for Pegasus Holding Group Inc.
