October 23, 2020

Rabbah Bloodstock’s Lady Lawyer went to the lead out of the gate and then held off a late bid from Quick Witted by three-quarters of a length to win Friday’s featured $75,000 Scarteen Purse for fillies and mares. (Click here for a replay of the race.)

Trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, Lady Lawyer covered the mile on a turf course rated as good in 1:38.67.

A Keeneland sales graduate, Lady Lawyer is a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Blame out of the War Front mare Profess. She improved her record to 9-5-2-0 and boosted her earnings to $174,340 with Friday’s $45,000 check.

Sent off as the favorite in the field of seven, Lady Lawyer rewarded her backers with payoffs of $4.60, $3.20 and $2.60. Quick Witted, ridden by James Graham, returned $7 and $4 with My Gal Betty finishing third under Joe Talamo and paying $5.20 to show.

Keeneland’s 17-day Fall Meet comes to a close Saturday with a 10-race program beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET.
