Keeneland Sales Graduates Diversify, Separationofpowers Sweep Weekend Grade 1 Events

August 6, 2018

Keeneland sales graduates finished 1-2 in the weekend’s two Grade 1 events, both on Saturday at Saratoga. Diversify earned a berth in the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill Downs with his dominating win in the $1.2 million Whitney. Carrying co-top weight of 124 pounds over a sloppy (sealed) track, Diversify led at every call to post a 3½-length victory over top sprinter Mind Your Biscuits, who was stretching out to 1 1/8 miles in the Whitney. Earlier in the day, Separationofpowers edged Mia Mischief by a neck to take the Test following a thrilling stretch battle.

On Saturday at Mountaineer, September Yearling Sale graduate Mr Freeze cruised to an 8-length victory in the $500,000 West Virginia Derby (G3). Keeneland sales graduates and stablemates Leofric and Term of Art battled throughout the West Virginia Governor’s (G3), with Leofric gaining the advantage by a neck at the wire.

Bellafina won the Sorrento (G2) by 4¼ lengths in the second race of her career at Del Mar on Sunday.
