Queen’s Award Pulls Off $63.80 Shocker to Win Buffalo Trace Franklin County

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 11, 2013) –  Coudelaria Jessica Inc.’s Queen’s Award collared defending champion Madame Giry in deep stretch to win the 17th running of the $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County by a half-length before 22,807 fans, which marked a record attendance for a Friday during a Keeneland fall meet.

The previous attendance mark for a Friday during the fall meet was 22,052 on Oct. 10, 2008.

Doc Almon Wins Lane’s End Purse on Make-A-Wish Day

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 10, 2013) –  Cheyenne Stables’ Doc Almon overhauled Tell All You Know in deep stretch en route to a half-length victory in Thursday’s $60,000 featured Lane’s End Purse for 3-year-olds and up before a crowd of 12,188 at Keeneland.

Trained by Bret Calhoun and ridden by Miguel Mena, Doc Almon ran the 6½ furlongs on the fast main track in 1:16.50.

Kitten Kaboodle Uses Inside Trip to Win JPMorgan Chase Jessamine

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 9, 2013) – Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s homebred Kitten Kaboodle found room on the rail at the head of the stretch and spurted clear to win the 23rd running of the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine (G3) for 2-year-old fillies by 4 3/4 lengths over favored Zinzay before a sun-splashed Wednesday afternoon crowd of 12,186 at Keeneland.

The victory earned Kitten Kaboodle a berth in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) to be run Nov. 1 at Santa Anita.

Garden City Winner Alterite Headlines Deep Field for 30th Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 9 2013) – Martin Schwartz’s Alterite (FR), a 1 1/2-length winner of the Garden City (G1) in her North American debut last month, headlines a deep field of nine 3-year-old fillies entered Wednesday for Saturday’s 30th running of the $400,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) to be contested at 1 1/8 miles on the turf.

The QE II will go as the ninth race on Saturday’s 10-race program that begins at 1:05 p.m. (ET). Post time for the QE II is 5:21 p.m.
