Keeneland’s The Hill: “Tailgating You Can Bet On”

LEXINGTON, KY (April 4, 2013) – Keeneland’s enhanced tailgating lot, dubbed “The Hill,” will take tailgating to a whole new level each Saturday during the spring meeting, with a variety of new amenities, including food trucks, Bluegrass concerts, a jumbo television screen and wagering options.

“We know our fans love to tailgate, and that it is part of what makes Keeneland special,” said Vince Gabbert, Keeneland Vice President and COO. “Our tailgate lot enhancements are aimed at making it easy and fun to enjoy a day at the races with friends and family.”

Overflow Field of Fillies Entered for Saturday’s Central Bank Ashland

LEXINGTON, KY (April 3, 2013) – John Oxley’s Grade 1 winner Spring in the Air will face 13 rivals Saturday in the 76th running of the $500,000 Central Bank Ashland, a Grade 1 event for three-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Keeneland.

$750,000 Toyota Blue Grass; new features, popular special events highlight season

Lexington, KY (March 29, 2012) – Keeneland kicks off its 2013 spring race meeting on Friday, April 5, marking the start of 16 days of extraordinary racing featuring the nation’s top stables and riders and headlined by the 89th running of the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (G1),  a springboard to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1).

Keeneland Adds Handicapper Katie Mikolay Gensler for Race-Day Picks and Paddock Analysis

LEXINGTON, KY (March 27, 2013) –Keeneland is adding handicapper and racing analyst Katie Mikolay Gensler to its race-day lineup this spring. She will work alongside longtime Keeneland handicapper and oddsmaker Mike Battaglia, providing live paddock commentary and selections.

“I am so honored and proud to join the Keeneland team,” Gensler said. “Keeneland racing is among the best in the world and I can’t wait to get started. I am also looking forward to working with someone as respected as Mike Battaglia.”

Champion Shanghai Bobby, Verrazano Highlight 189 Nominees to Keeneland’s Toyota Blue Grass

LEXINGTON, KY (March 11, 2013) – Champion Shanghai Bobby, and fellow top Kentucky Derby (G1) contenders Orb, Verrazano, and Hear the Ghost lead the 189 three-year-olds nominated to this year’s $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1), to be run Saturday, April 13, at Keeneland.

Champion Beholder Tops 134 Nominees to Central Bank Ashland

LEXINGTON, KY (March 11, 2013) – A total of 134 fillies, led by champion Beholder, have been nominated to Keeneland’s $500,000 Central Bank Ashland Stakes (G1), scheduled for Saturday, April 6. The total number of fillies nominated during the early closing period represents a 67 percent increase over 2012.
