DEFENDING CHAMP MISS ELLA TOPS OVERFLOW FIELD FOR FRIDAY’S BUFFALO TRACE FRANKLIN COUNTY

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 10, 2017) – Jack Swain III’s Miss Ella headlines a field of 12 fillies and mares and four also-eligibles entered Tuesday for Friday’s 21st running of the $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County (G3) to be run at 5½ furlongs on the Keeneland turf course.

The Buffalo Trace Franklin County will go as the ninth race on Friday’s 10-race program with a 5:30 p.m. ET post time. First post time is 1:05 p.m.

SHADWELL TURF MILE WINNER GRAND ARCH RETIRED TO OWNERS’ FARM

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 10, 2017) – Jim and Susan Hill’s Grand Arch, winner of the 2015 Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) and third that year in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) at Keeneland, has been retired to a life of leisure at the Hills’ Margaux Farm in nearby Midway, Kentucky.

“He is enjoying his retirement,” trainer Brian Lynch said. “He had a (minor) injury and we don’t think he could have continued racing at the top level.”

DICKINSON ARRIVES FOM SARATOGA IN BID FOR GRADE 1 KEENELAND DOUBLE

LEXINGTON, KY (October 6, 2017) – Godolphin Racing’s Dickinson, winner of the Jenny Wiley (G1) here this spring over Lady Eli, arrived at Keeneland Friday morning from Saratoga to prepare for Saturday’s 20th running of the $400,000 First Lady (G1).

Second in the Ballston Spa (G2) at Saratoga in her most recent start Aug. 26 at Saratoga, Dickinson will attempt to become the third horse to win the Jenny Wiley and First Lady in the same year. The others are Never Retreat(2011) and Intercontinental (GB) (2005).

BREEDERS’ CUP WINNER NEW MONEY HONEY TOPS INVITEES FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH II CHALLENGE CUP PRESENTED BY LANE’S END

LEXINGTON, KY (OCT. 6, 2017) -- E Five Racing Thoroughbreds’ New Money Honey, winner of last fall’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) and the Belmont Oaks Invitational (G1) in July, heads a roster of 11 3-year-old fillies invited by Keeneland Racing Secretary Ben Huffman to next Saturday’s 34th running of the $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Presented by Lane’s End (G1).

LADY O’TOOLE TOPS FIELD FOR WEDNESDAY’S JPMORGAN CHASE JESSAMINE

Steve Landers Racing’s Lady O’Toole, a 3½-length winner of the Happy Ticket at Louisiana Downs on Sept. 9 in her turf debut, heads a field of 14 2-year-old fillies and two also-eligibles entered Friday for Wednesday’s 27thrunning of the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf.

LADY AURELIA RETURNS TO WORK FOR TRAINER WESLEY WARD

Stonestreet Stables and Peter Leidel’s European champion Lady Aurelia, based at Keeneland with trainer Wesley Ward, worked on the turf here Tuesday for the first time since her narrow loss in the Coolmore Nunthorpe (G1) at York on Aug. 25. The 3-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy, winner of the Giant’s Causeway (L) at Keeneland in April and King’s Stand (G1) at Royal Ascot in June, is scheduled to make her next start in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Del Mar on Nov. 4.

Galloping Out - Limousine Liberal Works 5 Furlongs in :58.40 for Commonwealth (G3)

LEXINGTON, KY (April 1, 2017) – Limousine Liberal, the Keeneland track record holder for 6½ furlongs, drilled 5 furlongs in :58.40 after the break Saturday morning in preparation for a probable start in next Saturday’s $250,000 Commonwealth (G3) at 7 furlongs.

Owned by Katherine Ball and trained by Ben Colebrook, Limousine Liberal posted fractions of :22.80, :34 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:12.20.

Undefeated McCraken Slated to Work Sunday Morning for Toyota Blue Grass

LEXINGTON, KY (April 1, 2017) – Trainer Ian Wilkes said Whitham Thoroughbreds’ undefeated McCraken would work Sunday morning after the renovation break for next Saturday’s $1 million Toyota Blue Grass (G2).

“It looks like the rain is going to start early Monday, so we will go ahead and work tomorrow,” said Wilkes, whose initial preference was to work Monday.

McCraken, who has had two works here since arriving in mid-March from South Florida, will have regular rider Brian Hernandez Jr. aboard for the work.
