PABLO DEL MONTE WORKS FOR POSSIBLE DERBY RUN

Toyota Blue Grass (G1) third-place finisher Pablo Del Monte has 20 points on the road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and is 22nd on the list of point earners vying for the 20 positions in the starting gate for the May 3 race. This morning, breeder, trainer and co-owner Wesley Ward worked the Giant’s Causeway colt six furlongs in 1:11.20 to prepare for a possible start in the race.

SPECIAL: Tom Leach interviews trainer Christophe Clement about Aigue Marine (GB), racing today in the $150,000 Bewitch (G3), and talks to trainer Roger Attfield, who will send out Forte Dei Marmi (GB) in Friday’s $250,000 Dixiana Elkhorn (G2).

TWO-TIME HORSE OF THE YEAR WISE DAN WORKS

Reigning two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan, who opened his 2014 campaign with a win in the Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) here on April 11, worked a half-mile in a bullet :47.60 Tuesday morning.

Clockers caught Wise Dan, ridden by Damien Rock, in fractions of :11.80, :23.80, :47.60 with a gallop-out of 1:00.80 and 1:14.20.

TWELVE FILLIES AND MARES TO CONTEST 1½-MILE BEWITCH

Gallagher’s Stud’s Inimitable Romanee is the 123-pound highweight for Thursday’s $150,000 Bewitch (G3) for fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up, at 1½ miles on turf. She will face 11 rivals in the 53rd running of the Bewitch, which is the eighth race on the nine-race card with a post time of 4:42 p.m. ET.

SPECIAL: Tom Leach interviews trainer Al Stall Jr. on Ire, running in today’s Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare (G3), and talks to trainer Ian Wilkes on Free as a Bird, entered in Saturday’s Giant’s Causeway Stakes.

VANMETER MAKES KEENELAND DEBUT WITH PEARL TURN

Pearl Turn represents a number of firsts for her 30-year-old trainer, Will VanMeter. On March 14 at Oaklawn, the 4-year-old Bernardini filly became his first winner when she captured an allowance race by five lengths. On Friday, she will be VanMeter’s first starter in a stakes and first starter at Keeneland when she breaks from post three in the $100,000 Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare (G3) with Rosie Napravnik.

UNDEFEATED DIVINE OATH FACES 10 RIVALS IN STAKES DEBUT IN COOLMORE LEXINGTON

Let’s Go Stable’s undefeated Divine Oath, who did not draw into last Saturday’s Toyota Blue Grass (G1) field off the also-eligible list, will face 10 rivals this Saturday when he makes his stakes debut in the 33rd running of the $200,000 Coolmore Lexington (G3) at 1 1/16 miles on the main track.

TWO-TIME KEENELAND GRADE 1 WINNER EMOLLIENT HEADS FIELD FOR HILLIARD LYONS DOUBLEDOGDARE

Juddmonte Farms’ Emollient, a three-time Grade 1 winner in 2013, headlines a field of 11 fillies and mares entered Tuesday for Friday’s 20th running of the $100,000 Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare (G3) at 1 1/16 miles on the main track.

The Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare will go as the ninth race on Friday’s 10-race program with a 5:13 p.m. ET post time.

NO DERBY DECISION ON TOYOTA BLUE GRASS WINNER DANCE WITH FATE

While Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stable and Ciaglia Racing’s Dance With Fate had an easy morning at Barn 22 following his victory in Saturday’s $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (G1), trainer Peter Eurton was flying back to his Southern California base.
