LEXINGTON, KY (April 24, 2014) – At odds of 14-1, Gallagher’s Stud’s Inimitable Romanee charged down the center of the turf course and caught 20-1 longshot Aigue Marine (GB) to post a head victory in the 53rd running of the $150,000 Bewitch (G3) before 13,847 fans at Keeneland. The victory marked the third Grade 3 stakes victory in the last four races for the 6-year-old, New York-bred daughter of Maria’s Mon.

Quotes from the $150,000 Bewitch (G3)

Alan Garcia (winning rider of Inimitable Romanee)

“The (outside 12) post position I had was a little difficult. I had to use my filly a little bit in the first part of the race. After that, I wanted to save all the ground I could. In the last part, I said, ‘Let me move out and see if she’s good enough.’ She was good today; she was the best.”

James Graham (rider of runner-up Aigue Marine [GB])

Rosario Wins Bewitch On Longshot During Five-Win Day

LEXINGTON, KY (April 25, 2013) – Despite his dominating performance during the Keeneland spring meet, jockey Joel Rosario was overlooked by handicappers and rode 18-1 longshot Strathnaver (GB) to win the 52nd running of the $150,000 Bewitch Stakes (G3) before 11,921 fans on Thursday. The victory was one of Rosario’s five wins on the day on which he broke the spring meet record of 32 victories set by Randy Romero in 1990.

Quotes - $150,000 Bewitch Stakes (G3)

Graham Motion (trainer of winner Strathnaver [GB])

“I thought she was very impressive that day at Gulfstream (winning an allowance race on March 16 in her first U.S. start). Like I said to Joel, I just wasn’t sure about the mile and a half. But clearly she handled it pretty good.”

Joel Rosario (rider of Strathnaver)

“I got a perfect trip. (Trainer) Graham (Motion) told me to just let her do whatever she wants and she did it.”
