Timing is Right for Elate in Central Bank Ashland

LEXINGTON, KY (April 6, 2017) – Sixty-one years ago, Claiborne Farm of Paris, Kentucky, won the Ashland (now the $500,000 Central Bank Ashland-G1) with homebred Doubledogdare. The victory marked one of four Keeneland victories for Doubledogdare, who won the 1955 Alcibiades (now the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades-G1) and would return during the 1956 Fall Meet to win the Spinster (now the $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster-G1).

LEXINGTON, KY (April 6, 2017) – Kenny McPeek is one of six trainers who have won the Toyota Blue Grass (G2) and Central Bank Ashland (G1) in the same year. In a little more than a half-hour on Saturday, he could become the first trainer to repeat the feat Saturday if Daddys Lil Darling wins the $500,000 Central Bank Ashland and It’s Your Nickel takes the $1 million Toyota Blue Grass.

Valadorna Works 5 Furlongs in 1:00.80 for Central Bank Ashland

LEXINGTON, KY (April 1, 2017) – Stonestreet Stables’ Valadorna, one of the leading contenders for next Saturday’s $500,000 Central Bank Ashland (G1), worked five furlongs in company in 1:00.80 over a fast main track Saturday morning at Keeneland.

With exercise rider Jerome Lermyte aboard, Valadorna started about a length in back of Malibu Bonnie, a 3-year-old maiden, drew even on the turn and finished a head in front at the wire before galloping out far ahead of her workmate.

LEXINGTON, KY (March 31, 2017) – Stonestreet Stables’ homebred Valadorna, one of the leading candidates for next Saturday’s 80th running of the $500,000 Central Bank Ashland (G1), galloped on the training track Friday morning.

David Carroll, assistant to trainer Mark Casse, said Valadorna “may work Saturday morning depending on the weather and how much more rain we get (Friday).”

Weep No More Shocks Favorites With 30-1 Upset in $500,000 Central Bank Ashland

LEXINGTON, KY (April 9, 2016) – Ashbrook Farm’s Weep No More rallied from far off the pace to win Saturday’s 79th running of the $500,000 Central Bank Ashland (G1) for 3-year-old fillies by a neck over Rachel’s Valentina, with previously undefeated favorite Cathryn Sophia another neck back in third.

Trained by Rusty Arnold and ridden by Corey Lanerie, Weep No More covered the 1 1/16 miles on a fast main track in 1:43.57. The victory was worth $300,000 and increased Weep No More’s earnings to $342,269 with a record of 4-3-0-0.
