Peter Eurton (winning trainer of Kobe’s Back)

On whether he expected to see his horse so far back

“Actually no. There didn’t appear to be a lot of pace on paper, and the fact he broke bad, so where else was he going to go? They did set some pretty good fractions. He just shows you how good he is.”

Quotes - $175,000 Commonwealth Stakes (G3)

Leandro Moro (assistant to Doug O’Neill, winning trainer of Handsome Mike)

On what made the difference today after three off-the-board finishes

“He has run some really tough races. In the last race, he ran against Game On Dude, who is not an easy horse to beat. It looks like the distance is helping him.”

On Handsome Mike’s next race

“Because we train at Del Mar, we’re hoping we can keep him healthy and sound for the Pacific Classic (G1).”
