Keeneland Fall Meet Opens With Impressive Stakes Performances

My Conquestadory and Sum of the Parts Punch Breeders’ Cup Tickets With Darley Alcibiades, Stoll Ogden Keenon Phoenix Victories

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 4, 2013) – Conquest Stables’ My Conquestadory overcame a troubled trip to win the 62nd running of the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1) for 2-year-old fillies by 1 ¾ lengths over Rosalind before a fall meet-opening crowd of 15,391 at Keeneland on Friday.

Quotes - $400,000 Darley Alcibiades (G1)

Mark Casse (winning trainer of My Conquestadory)

On whether he was worried when she had to check on the backstretch

“A little worried? My thoughts were, ‘Here we have this great filly and she’s not going to be able to show how great she was.’ I wasn’t upset or worried for me, I was worried for her, because I wanted her to be able to show you how great she was. That was my concern.”

On whether she will go to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1)

Quotes - $200,000 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix (G3)

Tom Amoss (winning trainer of Sum of the Parts)

“I made a grave error with him last spring: I brought him back too quick and tried to do too much with him before I ran him, and it cost me. That’s how training goes. When you make those kinds of mistakes, you’re going to have to sit and wait, which is what we did and he came back really good this spring. I told the group I was with, ‘This the most athletic horse I’ve trained. He’s the quickest horse I’ve ever trained out of the gate.’ He really showed that today. All the credit goes to the horse.”
