Favored Gypsy Robin Romps to Lexus Raven Run Victory

LEXINGTON, KY (October 20, 2012) – King 9 Stables, Gatewood Bell, Bret Jones and trainer Wesley Ward’s Gypsy Robin ran 12 rivals into the ground as she posted a front-running four-length triumph over Sacristy to win the 14th running of the $250,000 Lexus Raven Run (G2) for 3-year-old fillies before a Saturday afternoon crowd of 25,287 at Keeneland.

Quotes - $250,000 Lexus Raven Run (G2)

Gatewood Bell (co-owner of winner Gypsy Robin)

“She loves the track. She’s trained here. She’s always run well here. She’s a really fast horse. The Hall of Famer (jockey John Velazquez) made her look good. It helps having him on her back; gives you confidence. She just ran awesome. (Trainer) Wesley (Ward) had her primed today, and she’s a good filly and she ran well.”

Angel Terrace and Miz Ida Take Divisions of Pin Oak Valley View

LEXINGTON, KY (October 19, 2012) – Augustin Stable’s Angel Terrace and Richard, Bertram and Elaine Klein’s Miz Ida won divisions of the 22nd running of the Pin Oak Valley View (G3) for 3-year-old fillies before a crowd of 16,574 on a damp Friday afternoon at Keeneland.

In the first division, Angel Terrace prevailed by a nose after dueling in the final 100 yards with Miss Cato (GB). It was two lengths back to Zapper Belle in third. Angel Terrace covered the 1 1/16 miles on a turf course labeled firm in 1:44.77.

Quotes - $125,000 Pin Oak Valley View (G3) (2nd division)

Steve Margolis (winning trainer of Miz Ida)

“This filly in her last few races has been so strong at the end. We figured out some things since she ran in the Edgewood (on May 4 at Churchill Downs in which she was seventh). She doesn’t want to sit that close (to the pace). Just let her break, let her get herself together and make her run when she’s ready.

On her late-running performance today

“She runs that way. Horses that have that come-from-behind race in them, you just have to let them run and kick in at the end.”

Quotes - $125,000 Pin Oak Valley View (G3) (1st division)

Jonathan Sheppard (winning trainer of Angel Terrace)

“It looked like a pretty tough spot, but she is a nice filly. She ran in a restricted stakes at Saratoga and she got beat about a length. (Angel Terrace was fourth in the one-mile Nani Rose on July 29.) She was in front after the wire; she absolutely flew through the stretch. I thought if she settled nicely and if the speed backed up I thought she had a shot to get a piece of it. In fact, I wasn’t really looking for the win. It was great.”

Kindergarden Kid Catches Ioya Bigtime at the Wire to Win Thursday’s Sycamore

LEXINGTON, KY (October 18, 2012) – Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Kindergarden Kid caught pace-setting Ioya Bigtime in deep stretch to win the 18th running of the $100,000 Sycamore (G3) by a neck before a Thursday afternoon crowd of 9,601 at Keeneland.

Trained by Mike Maker and ridden by Julien Leparoux, Kindergarden Kid provided Maker with his second stakes win of the Fall Meet and was the third stakes win for Leparoux. It was the first Sycamore win for trainer and jockey.

Quotes - $100,000 Sycamore (G3)

Mike Maker (winning trainer of Kindergarden Kid)

“I expected him to run his race. We had a lot of respect for the two horses who just beat him (Ioya Bigtime and Rahystrada in the Grade 3 Kentucky Turf Cup on September 15) and Musketier (GER) – how could you knock him? This horse is coming around, and I’m very pleased with him.”

On whether he was concerned when Ioya Bigtime had a big lead while Kindergarden Kid was fifth in the field of seven
