Keeneland January Exceeds 2012 Gross on Third Day of Auction

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 9, 2013) – The market continued to show considerable strength on Wednesday when gross receipts of $40,299,000 for the first three sessions of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale surpassed total sales of $37,991,900 recorded for last year’s four-day auction.

Street Sense Filly, Graded Stakes Winner Keertana Bring Seven Figures

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 8, 2013) – Buyer enthusiasm for quality individuals drove strong trade throughout day two of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, resulting in two seven-figure sales and double-digit increases in gross, average and median price.

Yearling Filly by Street Sense Sells for $1.45 Million on Tuesday

A yearling filly by Street Sense brought $1.45 million – the second-highest price for a short yearling sold in January – during Tuesday’s session of the January Horses of All Ages Sale.

The filly, purchased by Canadian Nat Rea’s Regis Farms, is out of stakes-winner Please Sign In, by Doc’s Leader. She is a half-sister to Shadwell Fillies’ Mile (G1) winner Certify and Oak Leaf Stakes (G1) winner Cry and Catch Me, and from the family of such champions as Habitat, Suave Dancer, Suave Tern and Muqtarib.

Graded Stakes Winner Keertana Brings $1 Million at January Sale

Craig Bandoroff’s Denali Stud, on behalf of an undisclosed domestic client, paid $1 million for multiple graded stakes winner Keertana to kick off Tuesday’s second session of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale.

A millionaire on the racetrack, Keertana recorded 11 wins in 29 starts, including six stakes – the Regret Stakes, Grey Goose Bewitch Stakes, Glen Falls Handicap, The Very One Stakes and Louisville Handicap (G3), all Grade 3, as well as the Indiana Downs Distaff.  

Nereid Sells for $1.3 Million, Gains in Gross and Average Realized on Opening Day of Keeneland January Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 7, 2013) – Demand for young, stakes-caliber mares, led by the $1.3 million paid for 2011 American Oaks (G1) winner Nereid, ruled opening Monday at Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, which saw double-digit growth in gross and average price.

Grade 1 Winner Nereid Brings $1.3 Million at Keeneland January Sale

Nereid, winner of the 2011 American Oaks (G1), sold for $1.3 million to Baumann Stables early in Monday’s opening session of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale.

Consigned as a broodmare prospect by Don Robinson’s Winter Quarter Farm, Nereid is a five-year-old mare by Rock Hard Ten out of the Belong to Me mare Dowry. In addition to her win in the American Oaks, Nereid finished second in the Rodeo Drive (G1) and third in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1) and Del Mar Oaks (G1).

Legislation Regarding Investment Incentives for Horse Owners Will Benefit January Buyers

 

Recent legislation passed earlier this week reinstated an important business investment incentive and substantially increased another incentive program. Both incentive programs could have important implications for purchasers of horses, farm equipment and most other depreciable property in 2013, beginning with Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale that begins Monday, Jan. 7.

Keeneland January Sale Opens Monday

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 4, 2013) – Keeneland kicks off the New Year with its January Horses of All Ages Sale, which begins Monday and is highlighted by the complete dispersal of Issam Fares’ Fares Farm.

Featured among the 80-horse Fares Farm consignment are Canadian champion Embur’s Song, in foal to Giant’s Causeway; Deputy Saint, a half-sister to two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, in foal to Lemon Drop Kid; and a yearling half-sister to Curlin by Distorted Humor. Lane’s End Farm will act as agent for the dispersal.

Fares Farm to Disperse Thoroughbred Stock at Keeneland January Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 20, 2012) – Issam Fares’ Fares Farm, breeder of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin and most recently represented by champion Embur’s Song, will completely disperse its Thoroughbred breeding and racing stock at Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale, to be held January 7-11, 2013.

Lane’s End Farm will act as agent for the dispersal. The 80-horse consignment, which is comprised of 37 broodmares, 33 yearlings and 10 horses of racing age, will be offered without reserve.
