Half-Brother to Tapit Brings $1 Million at Keeneland April Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (April 7, 2014) – The Malibu Moon colt who is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner and leading sire Tapit brought $1 million today during the 22nd annual Keeneland April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. He was purchased by the partnership of Gainesway, Greg Goodman’s Mt. Brilliant Farm and Robert LaPenta.

The price marked the first time since 2009 that the sale’s highest-priced horse reached $1 million.

BOBBY’S KITTEN BREEZES FOR TOYOTA BLUE GRASS

Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s homebred Bobby’s Kitten, the possible favorite for the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (G1) on April 12, worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 this morning with Marino Garcia aboard for trainer Chad Brown. (Click here to watch a video of the work.)

Bobby’s Kitten worked after the break, and clockers caught him in fractions of :11.80, :23.80, :35.40, 1:00.20 and out in 1:14.80.

COASTLINE WORKS FOR TOYOTA BLUE GRASS

John Oxley’s Coastline put in his final major work for next Saturday’s $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) by working five furlongs in company in 1:00.40.

With jockey Stewart Elliott aboard, the gray Speightstown colt posted fractions of :12.40, :23.80 and :35.20 while racing on even terms with Noble Bird, a 3-year-old maiden (pictured at left).

UK-BRED CASIGUAPO JOINS LIST OF TOYOTA BLUE GRASS PROBABLES

All American Horses’ Casiguapo, who was bred by the University of Kentucky, has joined the list of probables for the 90th running of the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (G1) on Saturday, April 12.

Trained by Mario Morales, Casiguapo was the runner-up in the Hopeful (G1) and Delta Downs Jackpot (G3) in 2013 and finished fifth in his lone 2014 start. The colt by Sightseeing is scheduled to arrive at Keeneland on Thursday from his home base at Calder.

Keeneland Catalogs 125 Horses for 2014 April Two-Year-Old Sale

Keeneland has cataloged 125 juveniles for its 2014 April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale on Monday, April 7, at 4 p.m. (ET). A Preview Show is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The interactive April Sale catalog will be available online at Keeneland.com on Tuesday, March 4. Print catalogs will be mailed the week of March 17.

The April Sale, first held in 1993, has produced more classic winners than any other 2-year-old sale, the most recent being 2013 Belmont (G1) winner Palace Malice.

Double-Digit Gains Realized at Keeneland April Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (April 8, 2013) – Keeneland’s April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale saw double-digit growth in gross, average and median figures during the one-day session, which was headlined by the sale of an Unbridled’s Song filly for $700,000.

Irish bloodstock agent John McCormack signed the ticket for the filly on behalf of undisclosed clients. McCormack purchased two horses for a total of $880,000 to be the sale’s leading buyer.
