Keeneland-Sold Sophomores Shine in Graded Stakes Wins

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 22, 2014) – Graduates of Keeneland sales accounted for three North American graded stakes this weekend: Florida Won rallied from last to upset a strong field in the Ontario Derby (G3) at Woodbine; Divine Oath took advantage in the stretch of an opening along the inside to capture the Kent (G3) at Delaware Park; and Thankyou Marylou romped to an easy 6½-length victory in the Dogwood (G3) at Churchill Downs.



Keeneland September Sale Graduates Sweet Reason, Stopchargingmaria Headline Cotillion

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 19, 2014) – Six of the nine fillies entered in Saturday’s Cotillion (G1) at Parx Racing are graduates of Keeneland’s 2012 September Yearling Sale, led by multiple Grade 1 winners Sweet Reason and Stopchargingmaria. Also at Parx on Saturday, fellow 2012 September Sale alum Noble Moon, recent winner of the Jerome (G2), goes postward in the Pennsylvania Derby (G2).



Keeneland Sales Alumni Earn Breeders’ Cup Berths with Juvenile Stakes Wins

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 15, 2014) – Keeneland sales alumni this weekend captured a trio of graded 2-year-old stakes that are Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In races, and each received an automatic berth into the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Santa Anita on Oct. 31-Nov. 1. An impressive performance in the Moyglare Stud (G1) at the Curragh in Ireland earned Cursory Glance a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1).

Keeneland September Sale Graduate Cristina’s Journey Earns Breeders’ Cup Berth with Pocahontas Win

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 8, 2014) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate Cristina’s Journey won her stakes debut, taking the Pocahontas (G2) at Churchill Downs on Saturday. For her victory, Cristina’s Journey earned 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1) and an automatic berth in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) on Nov. 1.




Keeneland September Sale Juveniles Stand Out Among Weekend Graded Stakes Entries

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 5, 2014) – Graduates of Keeneland’s 2013 September Yearling Sale headline this weekend’s 2-year-old graded stakes. At Churchill Downs, graded stakes-placed Take Charge Brandi is one of five alumni going postward in the Pocahontas (G2), which also includes the talented Rachel’s Ready and Cristina’s Journey, while Mountaineer Juvenile Stakes winner Hashtag Bourbon and graded stakes-placed Mr. Z are entered in the Iroquois (G3).

Keeneland Sales Graduate Itsmyluckyday Impressive in Woodward Win

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 2, 2014) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate Itsmyluckyday turned in a gritty performance to win Saturday’s Woodward (G1) at Saratoga, battling in a duel through the stretch to prevail by a half-length at the wire. Sunset Glow and Condo Commando, both graduates of the 2013 September Sale, dominated the juvenile filly ranks this weekend. Sunset Glow came from off the pace to score an authoritative win in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) and establish herself as the top 2-year-old filly on the West Coast.

Day each seek to become the fifth consecutive Keeneland-sold winner of the Saturday’s Travers (G1) at Saratoga, following champion Will Take Charge (2013), Golden Ticket (2012, dead-heat), Stay Thirsty (2011) and Afleet Express (2010). Wicked Strong won the Jim Dandy (G2), a traditional prep for the Midsummer Derby.

Keeneland Sales Graduate Hardest Core Overcomes the Odds to Win Arlington Million

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 18, 2014) – Keeneland sales alum Hardest Core rallied in late stretch to upset a strong field of turf horses in Saturday’s Arlington Million (G1) at Arlington Park. Gregory Bentley purchased the son of Hard Spun for $210,000 at Keeneland’s 2013 November Breeding Stock Sale as a 30th birthday gift for his son, Andrew, who was born with Down syndrome. Hardest Core nearly lost his life when gelded after the November Sale, but returned to the races to be undefeated in three starts this season.
