Keeneland Sales Alumni Carpe Diem, Dortmund Romp in Derby Preps

LEXINGTON, KY (April 6, 2015) – Keeneland sales alumni established themselves at the top of the leaderboards for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) and Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) by sweeping major prep races on Saturday.

Carpe Diem powered to a three-length victory in the Toyota Blue Grass (G1) at Keeneland while Dortmund dominated the Santa Anita Derby (G1) by 4¼ lengths.

Keeneland Sales Graduates Carpe Diem, Dortmund Top Weekend Graded Stakes Entries

LEXINGTON, KY (April 3, 2015) – More than 60 Keeneland sales graduates are entered in graded stakes during a blockbuster weekend of racing. Seven of the eight sophomores entered in Keeneland’s $1 million Toyota Blue Grass (G1) on Saturday are sales alumni, including favored Carpe Diem, winner of last fall’s Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) here. Also headlining the weekend is the undefeated Dortmund, who goes postward in Saturday’s Santa Anita Derby (G1).


Keeneland-Sold Materiality Impressive in Florida Derby Victory

LEXINGTON, KY (March 30, 2015) Materiality, a graduate of Keeneland’s 2013 September Yearling Sale, vaulted onto the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) leaderboard with a 1½-length win in Saturday’s Besilu Stables Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream. Fellow sales alumni I’m a Chatterbox and Birdatthewire moved into first and second place among the top contenders for the Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1) with wins in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) and Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), respectively.

Keeneland Sales Graduates Showcased on Roads to Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks

LEXINGTON, KY (March 27, 2015) – Keeneland sales alumni are top contenders in this weekend’s classic preps. On the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1) on Saturday, Itsaknockout, winner of the Besilu Stables Fountain of Youth (G2), and stakes winner Materiality highlight entries for the Besilu Stables Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream, while War Story, Mr. Z and Keen Ice are prominent in the field for the Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds. 

Keeneland-Sold Firing Line Romps in Sunland Derby

LEXINGTON, KY (March 24, 2015) Firing Line, a graduate of Keeneland’s 2012 November Breeding Stock Sale and 2014 April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, established himself as a leading contender on the Road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) with a 14¼-length victory in Sunday’s Sunland Derby (G3).

LEXINGTON, KY (March 13, 2015) – Graduates of the Keeneland sales highlight entries for weekend graded stakes. On Saturday, 2015 stakes winners Cassatt and Dame Dorothy go postward in the Santa Margarita (G1) at Santa Anita, while at Oaklawn graded stakes-placed The Truth Or Else and the talented winner Madefromlucky meet in the Rebel (G2) and Mufajaah and Flashy American, 1-2 in the recent Bayakoa (G3), renew their rivalry in the Azeri (G2).

Keeneland Sales Alumni Celebrate Graded Stakes Wins in U.S. and Dubai

LEXINGTON, KY (March 9, 2015) – Keeneland sales alumni swept graded stakes across the U.S. and in Dubai on Saturday.

Sophomore standouts Dortmund and Carpe Diem rank among the top pointearners on the Road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by following their respective wins in the San Felipe (G2) at Santa Anita and Tampa Bay Derby (G2) at Tampa Bay Downs. Three-year- olds Ready for Rye and Daredevil ran 1-2 in the Swale (G2) at Gulfstream.
