Keeneland-Sold Ive Struck a Nerve, Live Lively Gallop onto Classic Scene

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 25, 2013) – Keeneland sales graduates Ive Struck a Nerve and Live Lively each vaulted to the top of the classic standings with their wins in the Risen Star (G2) and Davona Dale (G2), respectively. I’ve Struck a Nerve earned 50 points for his upset victory in the Risen Star to claim the Number 1 spot among point earners on the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1). Keeneland-sold Code West and Palace Malice finished second and third, respectively.

Keeneland-Sold Violence, Normandy Invasion Favored in Weekend Kentucky Derby Preps

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 22, 2013) – Keeneland sales graduates Violence and Normandy Invasion headline the respective fields for Saturday’s Fountain of Youth (G2) and Risen Star Stakes (G2), each of which offer 50 Kentucky Derby (G1) qualifying points to the winner. In Gulfstream’s Fountain of Youth, Grade 1 winner Violence faces fellow Keeneland sales alumni Falling Sky, winner of the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3), and Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) runner-up He’s Had Enough.

Keeneland-Sold Super Ninety Nine, Dice Flavor Sweep Weekend Derby Preps

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 19, 2013) – Super Ninety Nine and Dice Flavor, both graduates of Keeneland’s 2011 September Yearling Sale, swept the weekend’s Kentucky Derby (G1) prep races, each rolling to easy wins in Oaklawn’s Southwest Stakes (G3) and Golden Gate’s El Camino Real Derby (G3), respectively.

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 18, 2013) – Smarty Jones Stakes winner Will Take Charge highlights five Keeneland sales alumni entered in Oaklawn’s Southwest Stakes (G3), a prep race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1). Keeneland-sold Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) champion Mizdirection, winner of the recent Monrovia Stakes (G2), headlines Santa Anita’s Buena Vista Stakes (G2).

Keeneland-Sold Champion Royal Delta Makes 2013 Debut in Sabin Stakes

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 15, 2013) – Prominent Keeneland sales graduates will make their 2013 season debut this weekend, headlined by two-time Eclipse Award winner Royal Delta in the Sabin Stakes (G3), and multiple graded stakes winner Newsdad in the Mac Diarmida Stakes (G2), both at Gulfstream. Newsdad won his last start, Keeneland’s Fayette Stakes (G2) on closing day of the fall meeting.

Keeneland Sales Grad Graydar Impressive in Donn Handicap Win

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 11, 2013) – Keeneland sales alum Graydar registered a wire-to-wire, three-length win over an accomplished field in Saturday’s Donn Handicap (G1) at Gulfstream. Earlier in the card, Keeneland-sold Channel Lady never relinquished the lead in winning the Suwannee River Stakes (G3).

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 7, 2013) – Keeneland sales graduates headline the accomplished older horses spotlighted in this weekend’s graded stakes. Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Animal Kingdom makes his season debut in the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (G1).

Keeneland Sales Grads Dominate Weekend Kentucky Derby Preps

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 4, 2013) – Keeneland sales alumni swept the classic preps for the second consecutive weekend, as Flashback (Robert B. Lewis-G2), Falling Sky (Sam F. Davis-G3) and Revolutionary (Withers-G3) earned top points on the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1). Keeneland sales alumni Honorable Dillon and Tapicat accounted for Saturday’s other two sophomore stakes, taking the Hutcheson (G2) and Florida Oaks (G3), respectively. 

Keeneland-Sold Den’s Legacy, Revolutionary Highlight Derby Preps

LEXINGTON, KY (Feb. 1, 2013) – Keeneland sales graduates with classic aspirations compete in three Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1) preps on Saturday. All four entries in Santa Anita’s Robert B. Lewis (G2) are Keeneland sales alumni, which features Grade 3 winner Den’s Legacy, high weighted at 120 pounds, and the talented He’s Had Enough.

Keeneland Sale Graduates and Champions Shanghai Bobby, Beholder Top Experimental Free Handicap

LEXINGTON, KY (Jan. 30, 2013) – Eclipse Award winners Shanghai Bobby and Beholder, both graduates of Keeneland’s 2011 September Yearling Sale, were assigned high weight in the male and filly divisions, respectively, of the 2012 Experimental Free Handicap, announced today by The Jockey Club.

Each of the nine high-weighted colts, and five of the top eight fillies, on the Experimental were sold at Keeneland auctions.
