$2.7 Million Tapit Filly Tops Monday’s Spectacular Opening Book 1 of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale

Robust market drives substantial increases; eight yearlings bring seven-figure prices

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 11, 2017) – Keeneland’s reformatted Week 1 of the September Yearling Sale produced eight million-dollar-plus horses and fueled significant increases in trade during Monday’s opening premier Book 1. Leading the action was a $2.7 million Tapit filly purchased by Coolmore’s M.V. Magnier to be the most expensive yearling sold at public auction in North America this year and the highest-priced filly sold at the September Sale since 2008.

Talented Keeneland Sales Graduates Line Up for With Anticipation

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 29, 2017) – Seabhac, from the barn of Todd Pletcher, leads a contingent of promising Keeneland sales graduates entered in Wednesday’s With Anticipation (G3) at Saratoga. Others include the talented colts Machtree and Untamed Domain, both maiden winners at Saratoga and, like Seabhac, are graduates of the 2016 September Yearling Sale.

Keeneland September Sale Graduate Paola Queen Rallies to Win Test

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 8, 2016) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate Paola Queen altered her usual front-running style and rallied from off the pace to win Saturday’s Test (G1) at Saratoga. 

Other prominent September Sale alumni to win on Saturday include Cupid, winner by four lengths of the West Virginia Derby (G2) at Mountaineer, and Champagne Room, who broke her maiden in the Sorrento (G2) at Del Mar.

Keeneland September Sale Graduate Creator Solidifies Derby Berth With Arkansas Derby Victory

LEXINGTON, KY (April 17, 2016) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduates captured this weekend’s final classic preps. On the Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1), Creator rallied from behind to take the Arkansas Derby (G1) at Oaklawn, while Collected unleashed a powerful run to win the Lexington (G3) at Keeneland by four lengths. Lightstream remained undefeated in winning the Adena Springs Beaumont (G3) on Sunday at Keeneland, the final prep on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks (G1).

Keeneland Sales Graduates Keen Ice, Private Zone, Runhappy Earn Grade 1 Wins at Saratoga

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 31, 2015) – Keeneland sales graduates continued their success at Saratoga, where alumni captured three Grade 1 stakes on Saturday:  Keen Ice turned in a gritty performance to win the Travers (G1); Private Zone earned an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) with a victory in the Priority One Jets Forego (G1); and Runhappy romped to a stakes record in the King’s Bishop (G1).


Keeneland Adjusts 2015 September Sale Opening Week Schedule

LEXINGTON, KY (July 6, 2015) – Keeneland sales officials today announced an adjustment to the opening week schedule for the 2015 September Yearling Sale, the world’s premier Thoroughbred auction, to be held Sept. 14-26.
