Keeneland-Sold Juveniles in Graded Stakes Spotlight

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 8, 2014) – Keeneland sales graduates highlight the entries for a pair of juvenile stakes at Saratoga on Sunday. The well-bred Take Charge Brandi, second in the recent Schuylerville (G3) and Cavorting, an impressive 11-length maiden winner, go postward in the Adirondack (G2), while the talented graded stakes-placed Mr. Z is among the four Keeneland-sold 2-year-olds – Lord Tyrion, Tizcano and Majestic Affair – competing in the Toyota Saratoga Special (G2).  

 

Keeneland September Sale Alum Sweet Reason Wins Test (G1)

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 4, 2014) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate Sweet Reason captured her third career Grade 1 stakes in winning the Longines Test Stakes (G1) at Saratoga on Saturday.

Keeneland November Sale Achieves Significant Gains at All Market Levels

Strong domestic and international participation drives double-digit growth

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 14, 2013) – Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale concluded Thursday with a 38 percent increase in total sales, demonstrating exceptional strength at every level of the market. Strong demand for quality broodmares and weanlings from an internationally diverse clientele drove double-digit gains in gross, average and median, and produced 14 million-dollar-plus horses, double the number sold in 2012.

Dam of 2013 Breeders’ Cup Winner Tops Friday Session of Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 8, 2013) – Ragtime Hope, whose son Secret Circle won the Xpressbet Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita on Saturday, was sold for $675,000 during Friday’s fourth session of the 70th annual Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. The amount was the highest price paid during the session in which gross sales for 254 horses reached $26,333,700, a 42 percent increase over the comparable session in 2012.

Dam of Breeders’ Cup Sprint Winner Secret Circle Draws $675,000 To Kick Off Friday Session of Keeneland’s November Sale

Ragtime Hope (Hip 835), dam of 2013 Xpressbet Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) winner Secret Circle, sold for $675,000 to get Friday’s session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale off to a strong start.

Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings emerged as the winning bidder for the 11-year-old mare, who was sold in foal to Arch. Ragtime Hope is by Dixieland Band out of the winning Smarten mare Good ‘n Smart, and is a half-sister to Dogwood (G3) winner Really Polish. She was consigned by Indian Creek, agent for Longfield.

Increases Continue During Thursday Session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 7, 2013) – Robust trade from domestic and international buyers continued Thursday during the third session of the 70th annual Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, as gross sales were 26 percent above the total from the corresponding session in 2012. The average and median also recorded double-digit increases over last year, while the buyback rate was a low 20 percent.

Popular Champion Groupie Doll Sells for $3.1 Million to Lead Second Day of Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 6, 2013) – Demand for an elite collection of young broodmares in foal to successful stallions and accomplished fillies just off the racetrack drove a 31 percent increase in total sales during Wednesday’s second session of the 70th annual Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. Eight horses – led by 2012 champion female sprinter Groupie Doll, who sold for $3.1 million – brought $1 million or more to push to 14 the total number of horses sold for at seven figures during Book 1, the first two days of the sale.

Champion Groupie Doll Sells for $3.1 Million to Top Wednesday at November Sale

Two-time defending Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1) champion Groupie Doll sold for $3.1 million to lead eight seven-figure prices during Wednesday’s session of the November Breeding Stock Sale. To date, 14 horses have brought $1 million-plus compared to seven during the entire 2012 November Sale.

Grade 1 Winner Awesome Maria Sells for $4 Million to Open Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 5, 2013) – The 70th annual Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale opened Tuesday with a continuation of the strong market for Thoroughbred bloodstock that has occurred at sales around the world for much of 2013. Total sales increased 52 percent from the first session of the 2012 sale, while the average increased 35 percent and the median jumped nearly 73 percent.
