Market Stability Reigns As Keeneland September Sale Concludes

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 21, 2014) – The Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the world’s premier Thoroughbred auction, closed Sunday with results nearly equal to 2013, continuing a healthy trend toward market stability and confidence in the Thoroughbred industry.

Significant Gains Realized on Day 11 Of Keeneland September Yearling Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 19, 2014) – The largest across-the-board increases to date highlighted Day 11 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

During Friday’s Book 5, gross sales of $6,626,500 for 289 horses rose 61.5 percent over last year’s $4,103,000 for 236 horses sold. The average increased 31.88 percent, from $17,386 to $22,929. The median price of $17,000 represented a 41.67 percent jump from $12,000 in 2013.

Keeneland September Sale Graduates Sweet Reason, Stopchargingmaria Headline Cotillion

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 19, 2014) – Six of the nine fillies entered in Saturday’s Cotillion (G1) at Parx Racing are graduates of Keeneland’s 2012 September Yearling Sale, led by multiple Grade 1 winners Sweet Reason and Stopchargingmaria. Also at Parx on Saturday, fellow 2012 September Sale alum Noble Moon, recent winner of the Jerome (G2), goes postward in the Pennsylvania Derby (G2).

Colt from Family of Kentucky Derby Winner Tops Day 10 of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 18, 2014) – Keeneland realized increases for the fifth consecutive session on Day 10 of the September Yearling Sale when a colt from the family of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mine That Bird and multiple Grade 1 winner Dullahan brought the highest price of $200,000.

Bullish Market Continues at Keeneland September Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 17, 2014) – The momentum generated during the opening days of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale continued to carry forward as significant gains in gross, average and median were recorded on Wednesday. 

On day nine of the 13-day sale, 289 yearlings sold for $13,467,500, a 20.47 percent increase from last year’s corresponding session when 311 yearlings brought $11,179,500. The $46,600 average was 29.64 percent higher than $35,947 in 2013. The median rose 29.63 percent, from $27,000 to $35,000.

Numbers Remain Positive on Day 8 of Keeneland September Yearling Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 16, 2014) - Total sales, along with the average and median prices, all improved by double digits on Day 8 of the 71st Keeneland September Yearling Sale to mark the third consecutive session with increases in all three categories.

Day 6 of Keeneland September Yearling Sale Includes $700,000 Filly

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 14, 2014) – Sunday’s sixth session of the 71st Keeneland September Yearling Sale featured double-digit increases in average and median prices and the sale of a filly for $700,000.
 
“I thought it was a good solid session,” Keeneland Director of Sales Geoffrey Russell said. “We’re starting to see different buyers participate. A strong Russian contingent bought horses today, and we look for them and other international horsemen to buy horses as the sale continues.”
 

$600,000 Colt Leads Day 5 of Keeneland September Yearling Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Sept. 13, 2014) – The 71st Keeneland September Yearling Sale took a day off Friday and resumed today with the sale of a colt for $600,000, while overall figures held steady from the corresponding session last year.
