Miss Temple City Upsets the Boys in $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile

LEXINGTON, KY (April 15, 2016) – Sagamore Farm, Allen Rosenblum and The Club Racing, LLC’s Miss Temple City became the first filly to win the $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) for older horses before a sun-splashed Friday afternoon crowd of 17,645.

Ridden by Drayden Van Dyke, Miss Temple City collared the pace-setting Heart to Heart at midstretch to draw clear for a 1¼-length victory.

Miss Temple City to Challenge the Boys in Maker's 46 Mile

Sagamore Farm, Allen Rosenblum and The Club Racing LLC’s Miss Temple City is scheduled to make her 2016 debut against the boys in Friday’s $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile (G1).

The 4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Temple City also had been entered in Saturday’s $350,000 Coolmore Jenny Wiley (G1) against fillies and mares, but trainer Graham Motion said the filly would run Friday.

LEXINGTON, KY (April 13, 2015) – Keeneland September Yearling Sale alum Jack Milton surged from last to first to win the Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) at Keeneland on Friday.

Jack Milton Sweeps Past Field to Win Maker’s 46 Mile

LEXINGTON, KY (April 10, 2015) – Gary Barber’s Jack Milton, last early in a field of seven, swept by the pack on the far outside to win the 27th running of the $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) by 2¼ lengths over Aripeka before a Friday afternoon crowd of 14,069.

Jack Milton gave jockey Javier Castellano his second victory in the race, with his initial victory coming in 2011 aboard Get Stormy. It was Castellano’s third victory of the afternoon and the third for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Trainer Charlie LoPresti was one happy camper Saturday morning, the day after Morton Fink’s reigning two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan made a triumphant return to the races with a victory in the Maker’s 46 Mile (G1) on Friday.
