Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale Begins Tuesday

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 31, 2013) – Keeneland’s 70th annual November Breeding Stock Sale – internationally recognized as the premier auction of its kind – will begin Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. ET.

The entire 10-day sale, which runs through Nov. 14, will be streamed live on Keeneland’s website, Keeneland.com. All sessions begin at 10 a.m.

A total of 3,602 horses are cataloged to the sale: 1,739 broodmares and broodmare prospects, 1,364 weanlings, 481 horses of racing age, 10 yearlings, and eight stallions.

Strong Trade, Stable Market Define Keeneland November Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 16, 2012) – Demand for quality broodmares and strong participation from both foreign and domestic buyers, particularly at the top levels of the market, generated solid business trade throughout Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale, which concluded Friday.

Gross sales for the 11-day auction, held November 6-16, totaled $143,025,600 for the sale of 2,414 horses, for an average of $59,248 and a median price of $22,000. Last year, 2,554 horses brought $208,511,200, for an average of $81,641 and a median of $24,000.

Local Color Sells for $45,000 at Thursday Session

 

Local Color, an eight-year-old mare by Capote out of the Excusive Native mare Setting, brought a final bid of $45,000 to lead Thursday’s session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. In foal to Square Eddie, she is a half-sister to Vivid Angel, winner of the Oak Leaf Stakes (G1).

 She was purchased by Rancho San Jose and was consigned by Indian Creek, agent.

Impressive Maiden Winner Flashy Gray Brings $775,000 to Open Tuesday at Keeneland

Flashy Gray, a two-year-old filly by Flashy Bull who broke her maiden by 10¼ lengths at Churchill Downs on November 8, sold for $775,000 to West Point Thoroughbreds and Tom Keithley to open the Tuesday session of the November Breeding Stock Sale. Flashy Gray was consigned by Gainesway, agent for the Dolphus C. Morrison Dispersal.

Atrea Tops Saturday Session

 

Atrea, out of the Capote mare New Dice and from the family of Get Lucky that has produced grade 1 winner Girolamo, Grade 2 winner Daydreaming and 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, topped Saturday’s session of the 2012 November Breeding Stock Sale. The five-year-old Storm Cat mare, in foal to Flatter, sold for $435,000 to Glen Hill Farm. She was consigned by Lane’s End, as agent.

Keeneland Reports Gains in Average, Median Prices on Friday

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 9, 2012) – Castleton Lyons paid a session-topping $350,000 for stakes winner American Lady during Friday’s session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, which saw increases in average and median prices.

A four-year-old filly by Stormy Atlantic out of the Rubiano mare Comfort Zone, American Lady is a half-sister to Sham Stakes (G3) winner The Pamplemousse. She was consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Demand for Quality Mares Remains Strong at Keeneland on Thursday

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 8, 2012) – The market for attractive, well-bred broodmares continued to show strength during Thursday’s session of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale, led by the sale of Tell It, a half-sister to prominent sire Pulpit, for $540,000.

Blandford Bloodstock purchased the 15-year-old daughter of Storm Cat, who is out of the Grade 1 stakes-winning Mr. Prospector mare Preach. Tell It is the dam of stakes winner Dream Nettie, and was sold in foal to Candy Ride (ARG). She was consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent.

Pure Clan Brings $4.5 Million to Top Day 2 of Keeneland November Sale

Changing Skies (IRE) Sells for $4.2 Million

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 7, 2012) – Elite young mares and broodmare prospects continued to be highly prized during the second day of selling at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale, which was headlined by the sale of graded stakes winners Pure Clan and Changing Skies (IRE) for $4.5 million and $4.2 million, respectively.

Pure Clan Sells for $4.5 Million at Keeneland November Sale

Grade 1 stakes winner Pure Clan, sold in foal to leading sire Bernardini, brought a final bid of $4.5 million from Brazilian Goncalo Torrealba of Stud TNT near the mid-point of Wednesday’s session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

Torrealba said the mare will go to Robert Clay’s Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Kentucky.

“I like her physical a lot; the way that she won on both turf and dirt,” Torrealba said. “We are looking for good mares, and we just loved her.”

Kentucky Oaks Winner Plum Pretty Sells for $4.2 Million To Kick Off Keeneland November Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 6, 2012) – Plum Pretty, winner of the 2011 Kentucky Oaks (G1), sold for $4.2 million to Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm to top Tuesday’s opening session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
