Keeneland Catalogs 3,604 Yearlings for 2012 September Sale

LEXINGTON, KY (Aug. 1, 2012) – Keeneland has cataloged 3,604 horses for its 2012 September Yearling Sale, to be held September 10-21.

Recognized as the world’s most prestigious Thoroughbred auction house, Keeneland has sold more champions and stakes winners than any other sales company. The September Sale has produced nearly 200 stakes winners to date in 2012, headlined by 83 graded/group stakes winners.

Paynter, Elusive Kate Win Big Home and Abroad

Paynter and Elusive Kate, both graduates of Keeneland’s 2010 September Yearling Sale, were dominating in their respective stakes performances at home and abroad on Sunday. Keeneland-sold horses finished 1-2-3 in the $1 million Haskell Invitational (G1) at Monmouth Park, in which Zayat Stables’ Paynter powered to a 3¾-length win, followed by Nonios and Stealcase. The Haskell victory establishes Paynter among the top three-year-old colts in North America and a strong contender for the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in November.

Sophomores Dominate $1 Million Haskell Invitational

Five of the six three-year-olds entered for Sunday’s $1 million Haskell Invitational (G1) at Monmouth Park are Keeneland sales graduates, led by Belmont (G1) runner-up and Haskell morning-line favorite Paynter, as well as Grade 1 winners Dullahan and Gemologist.
