Event description:

Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale – which catalogs broodmare, broodmare prospects, weanlings, horses of racing age, stallions, stallion prospects and shares – is the world’s most important auction of its type in terms of total sales and average. Some of the global industry’s top broodmares and broodmare prospects have sold at the sale.

The 2015 November Sale immediately followed the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland. Leading the 22 horses sold for seven figures was champion Take Charge Brandi, whose purchase price of $6 million made her the most expensive Thoroughbred sold at public auction in the world during the year. For the second consecutive November Sale, a North American record price for a weanling was set when a filly by War Front out of Take Charge Lady (Take Charge Brandi’s second dam) sold for $3.2 million.

At the 2016 November Sale, spirited competition among the world’s top buyers for quality individuals resulted in the sale of 19 horses for $1 million or more. Highlights included the $3.8 million sale of 2010 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (G1) winner and millionaire Unrivaled Belle, the most expensive Thoroughbred sold at public auction anywhere in the world, and the $3.5 million sale of Group 2 winner Secret Gesture (GB).

The 2016 November Sale also featured the Complete Dispersal of Ernie Semersky and Dory Newell’s Conquest Stables, which sold 100 horses for $11,207,500. The dispersal was topped by the sale of Grade 1 winner My Conquestadory, in foal to Tapit, for $1.5 million to SF Bloodstock and Newgate Farm.

The 13-day November Sale grossed $215,213,000 for 2,653 horses for an average of $81,121.
