Keeneland-Sold Champion Unique Bella Shines in 2018 Debut; January Sale Grad Flameaway Earns Spot on Derby Leaderboard with Sam F. Davis Win

February 12, 2018

Keeneland September Yearling Sale graduate and reigning champion female sprinter Unique Bella dominated the Santa Maria (G2) on Saturday at Santa Anita from gate to wire with an easy 9-length victory in her season debut. On the same card, September Sale graduate Om became a millionaire with his win in the Thunder Road (G3).

At Tampa Bay Downs, Flameaway and Catholic Boy, both alumni of Keeneland’s 2016 January Horses of All Ages Sale, battled in the stretch before the former pulled away to a half-length win in the Sam F. Vino Rosso and Hollywood Star finished third and fourth, respectively, to produce a Keeneland sale graduate sweep of the points available in the 2018 Road to the Kentucky Derby (G1) prep.
