The Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) was named for the Bluegrass region of Kentucky, which is characterized by grass having bluish-green culms and is known as the heart of the Thoroughbred breeding industry. First run at the Kentucky Association track in Lexington in 1911, the Blue Grass has, from its inception, served as an important prep for the Kentucky Derby.
The $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass (G1) will be contested on April 12 for 3yo going 1 1/8 miles on the main track. The nomination fee is $200 and closes on February 22.*
*The second nomination deadline increases to $1,000 and closes on March 26.
Watch the live broadcast on April 12 on “The Jockey Club Tour on Fox.” The show is set for 4:30-6 p.m. (ET).
