LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 28) – Keeneland’s 2016 Fall Meet, which runs through Saturday, marks the track’s 80th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, Barn Notes is looking back at memorable races and highlights from Keeneland’s rich history.

Here are a few noteworthy moments from Oct. 28:

2000: Jockey Jon Court wins five races.

2015: Zayat Stables’ American Pharoah is ridden in the barn after arriving at Keeneland the previous afternoon from California to compete in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1). The first Triple Crown winner to race at Keeneland since Whirlaway in April 1942, American Pharoah three days later will win the Classic by 6½ length and set Keeneland’s 1¼-mile track record of 2:00.07.
