Race 1: BEAUTY SISTERS (3) was purchased for $300k at the Keeneland sales and bred for longer, but runs for high percentage 2yo trainer, Wes Ward, with fast works. ANNIEBEAR (6) is a TALE OF THE CAT filly bred for speed and a quick work from the gate on 4/13. KALAMITY JANE (2) is another 2yo filly with intriguing works in the morning for a sharp first time starter barn.
Race 2: BOWMAN’S CAUSEWAY (3) looks for an improved trip second time over the track with a new rider in the irons. The 6yo should be tough late down the stretch. ONE GOLDEN ROAD (1) makes his second start off the layoff, but first time poly at short odds. REGULUS (7) should appreciate the added distance compared to last start and has early speed.
Race 3: DREAM SOFTLY (8) broke her maiden here last Fall. Filly should be a major player if ready off the layoff at decent odds. INDYGO F M A (6) runs first off the claim and exits a sharp performance. OLYMPIC AVENUE (2) has an inside draw with quick early speed and a sharp gate rider.
Race 4: HINES (9) made a late rally after he stumbled at the start and steadied around the first turn. He returns fresh in hopes of a sharp break and clean trip to graduate today. BEYOND SMART (7) is a well-bred colt for the grass that gets first time Lasix and competes for top notch connections. CLEARER VIEW (5) exits his best effort over the soft footing and may continue to move forward for a sharp turf outfit with jockey Napravnik retaining the mount.
Race 5: TREASURY BILL (2) has been training consistently for a big comeback off the long break. The 4yo has been in several 3yo stakes races and now faces allowance company with rider Rosario aboard. COMMAND FORCE (9) should move forward second time over the track and winning trainer/jockey duo this meet. DILLINGER (3) was an impressive maiden winner going wire to wire, but will face other frontrunners in this spot.
Race 6: SCORIA (3) has solid turn form and should like the stretch out to a mile and an eighth for his second start in the last three months. CAN’THELPBELIEVING (1) broke his maiden at the distance. He exits a key race, which the runner-up, MR. SPEAKER came back to win the G3 Coolmore Lexington Stakes last weekend. SLY TOM (6) has displayed tactical speed and gets first time Lasix.
Race 7: CHARMING KITTEN (8) finished a close third in the G1 Blue Grass Stakes behind JAVAS WAR and PALICE MALICE. The colt should move forward off his last race and race sets up well for the classy colt. ADMIRAL PERRY (5) has done well at the distance on the grass, but has no wins over the poly. He raced evenly last time out going short and makes his second start off the long layoff. BELLARMINE (9) just won his last start five days ago and colt does not need the lead. Interesting that jockey Garcia rides another in this field.
Race 8: The G3 Bewitch Stakes – ROMANTICA (9) returns off a layoff after she finished second in the BC F&M Turf Stakes last year. She runs well fresh and has excellent form going long on the grass. She is the one to beat in the feature. LEFT A MESSAGE (2) gets a brief freshening for a big effort over one of her favorite turf courses. CAROLINE THOMAS (10) exits a troubled trip in the G3 Orchid Stakes. Nice workout on 4/20.
Race 9: BERGMAN (12) ran well at this level last time out and faces a soft $10k claiming field for second start off the layoff. EXULTANT (8) has been facing tougher most of his career and could more forward even though he prefers going two turns. FORMAT V. (9) runs for top notch connections, but he drops in class after he pulled up in his latest effort.
