Katie Mikolay Gensler's first exposure to racing came at a young age, attending Arlington Park with her family on weekends when she grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been the racing analyst at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana for the last three years. In addition to hosting the daily Churchill Downs Simulcast Network production of live Fair Grounds racing, Mikolay co-hosts the pre-race Fair Grounds Today show. She also contributes to FairGroundsRaceCourse.com as both a handicapper and blogger during the live Thoroughbred meeting and has made special appearances on HRTV and NBC Sports. During the summers, she performs similar duties at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, Pennsylvania for the 100-day race meet for the last five years. As an advocate for fan education, Katie has teamed up with America's Best Racing to teach wagering and produce racing 101 videos to increase horse racing awareness. She has been married to Thoroughbred horse trainer, Hank Gensler, for three years.

Race 1: LOVE THE KITTEN (9) runs for top connections with the outermost post position and a sharp breeze from the gate. BRUISED ORANGE (1) has a sharp work from the gate and competes for a high percentage trainer with two-year-olds (20%). BELLA VAQUERA (2) was purchased for $92k at the Keeneland sales last year. Filly is bred for shorter distances.
Race 2: TONY B (6) has a good series of works leading up this race plus he ran a close second over the track against a tougher field. WHYRUAWESOME (2) is reunited with jockey Mojica for a sharp effort forwardly placed from the gate. OCEAN ALLEY (1) drops in class third start off the break for a capable trainer.
Race 3: RAPSCALLION (1) has a victory over Keeneland’s dirt course, and runs well off the break. TRANSPARENT (3) ran fourth against stakes company last time and should be tough just off the pace. CLASS LEADER (5) is a strong closer in recent starts and good recent workouts.
Race 4: EPHRAM S (11) should be tough late in the stretch as he goes for his fourth win at the distance. CHIEF’S REENGE (10) has early speed with two solid efforts in the last sixty days, but will have to overcome an outside draw. LEAK HUNTER (4) should be a threat stalking the pace if he can compete at this level.
Race 5: ZLOTY (7) ran well off the long layoff last time out and should move forward for the Pletcher stable. JESTER AND ME (12) leads into the race in sharp form after she won going a flat mile on the grass at Gulfstream. EASTERN BELLE (9) makes her first start in the U.S after she finished fourth in Group 1 race in England. Filly has good form on the grass and training consistently for her first start in seven months.
Race 6: BOONE STATION (10) has intriguing works to be sharp going six furlongs for a 17% trainer with first time starters. HOW ABOUT HIM (8) has three solid drills to be fit and ready at second asking. WILD AND UNBRIDLED (4) has fast breezes from the gate and bred for the distance to be the main threat today at short odds.
Race 7: SING LADY SING (1) makes her debut three year-old performance with a top rider in the irons and a sharp three-furlong drill on April 4th. INNOVATIVE IDEA (2) has kept nice company since she broke her maiden, and she rallied to finish runner-up in her latest effort. GENRE (11) will run with first time blinkers with a tough outside post with her early speed.
Race 8: COUGAR RIDGE (6) has three works since his fourth place effort in the Grade III Mineshaft Stakes. He should be tough at this level from off the pace. TOP BILLING (3) should improve second start off the long layoff. SEA VIEW CHICO (5) needs a clean getaway with a clean trip to be in contention today. Sharp bullet on March 26th.
Race 9: FIRST WHIPPOORWILL (11) cuts back in distance after she won going flat mile on the grass. She may prefer softer footing, but doesn’t appear to be a tough field to face on the dirt today. GREEK LIFE (7) competes first off the claim for a 23% stable. Mare is the biggest threat to top choice just off the pace. SLUICEWAY (3) has two solid efforts in her last starts.
