    Sunday, October 5th, 2014

Race 1: GALLOPING DOMINO (5) should be tough in stalking position with speed drawn to both the inside and outside plus she leads into the race off a win.  DETERMINED YANKEE (7) runs well at this level, but may prefer a slightly shorter distance if she goes to the front early.  TOTAL TALENT (3) makes a suspicious drop off a long layoff so watch the odds board.

    Picks 5-7-3

Race 2:  DRAGONBERRY (11) has been a late running second the last two starts and will be the one to beat for Pletcher’s stable.  ANY DAY NOW (9) tracked the pace last time and just missed by ¾ lengths.   She should lay close for another solid performance.  SKY MIRAGE (3) made a big run late at first asking.

    Picks 11-9-3

Race 3:  CORRUPTION (5) ran second at low odds in his first time out for high percentage connections.  GOLDEN MOON (4) has early speed with a brief freshening and strong works.  A TOUCH OF POETRY (1) looks good enough to finish in the gimmicks.

    Picks 5-4-1

Race 4:  CHONGO (5) just missed second place by a neck last time against similar on the dirt, which appears to be his preferred surface.  OLYMPIC THUNDER (4) exits a race against graded stakes company.  He faces easier company and runs with blinkers off on the dirt.  SINORICE (2) should be a tough, but he pulled up in his latest to be cautious to pick on top.

    Picks 5-4-2

Race 5:  VICTORIA BLU (10) leads into the race off an impressive win, but the longer distance is questionable.  BOX OFFICE APPEAL (9) may prefer a slightly shorter distance, but she’s in top form.  DADDY APPROVES (2) takes on easier company and moves back to the dirt.

    PICKS 10-9-2

Race 6:  AUNT SHERRI (6) was second in a stakes at KD last outing.  She made a middle move too soon in her latest, and now gets jockey Rosie Napravnik in the saddle.  PRADO’S SWEET RIDE (4) ran well at the distance on the grass last time and should be a threat against these.  BIG RED SEVEN (5) likes the distance and moves back to the grass after she broke her maiden on the dirt.

    Picks 6-4-5

Race 7: LOON (3) ran fourth in the G2 Pocahontas and two good works leading into this race.  BIRDATTHEWIRE (7) hopes for a clean getaway and better trip while she stretches out to two turns.  HOPEFAITHJOY (9) competes for a high profile barn that should improve over a fast track at a longer distance.

    Picks 3-7-9

Race 8:  The Grade 1 Bourbon Stakes

CAN’T HAPPEN HERE (3) broke his maiden at first asking despite a slow break and bumped by another horse on the rail.  DANNY BOY (4) ran fourth in the Iroquois Stakes and returns to softer footing, which he broke his maiden on the grass.  CHIEF KITTEN (9) ran down a large field late to break his maiden and now meets winners first time for sharp connections on the grass.

    Picks 3-4-9

Race 9:  The Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes

CLOSE HATCHES (2) is a multiple graded stakeswinner that won her last four starts.  She has versatility and loves the distance.  DON’T TELL SOPHIA (5) is a sharp closer that has been training well to face top choice once again.  MOLLY MORGAN (6) has won at the distance and should be tracking the pace early.

    Picks 2-5-6

Race 10: CHOCOLATE RIDE (3) breaks from a better post position and run with blinkers on.  ARCANE (8) ran third in a paceless race last time out.  The well-bred gelding has talent to be dangerous at 5-1 odds.  DOBRA HISTORIA (1) ran his best race last time and should improve second start as a 3yo.

    Picks 3-8-1
