Katie Mikolay Gensler's first exposure to racing came at a young age, attending Arlington Park with her family on weekends when she grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been the racing analyst at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana for the last three years. In addition to hosting the daily Churchill Downs Simulcast Network production of live Fair Grounds racing, Mikolay co-hosts the pre-race Fair Grounds Today show. She also contributes to FairGroundsRaceCourse.com as both a handicapper and blogger during the live Thoroughbred meeting and has made special appearances on HRTV and NBC Sports. During the summers, she performs similar duties at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, Pennsylvania for the 100-day race meet for the last five years. As an advocate for fan education, Katie has teamed up with America's Best Racing to teach wagering and produce racing 101 videos to increase horse racing awareness. She has been married to Thoroughbred horse trainer, Hank Gensler, for three years.

Race 1: WiNKATDAWAT (7) has early speed on the dirt to be tough in a race lacking early lick plus he just missed in his latest over the same track. SET THE SAIL (6) could be tough if ready off the layoff. His most recent work seems promising and he’s the class of the race. AWOL ADAM (1) should be dangerous firing late in this spot plus he has a race over the track.
Race 2: REVEREND GREEN (6) should last longer going 7fs after he showed early speed and weakened late going a flat mile. He needs to break sharper in his third start for 16% barn this meet. OLD MOUNTAIN LANE (2) gets back to the dirt for a better effort at first time tag same as top choice. MUNTIJ (4) has been a consistent runner that may succeed today at 7-2 odds.
Race 3: PROSPERO (2) drops in class and can rate just off the favorite for a winning trip. MAL GUAPO (1) will be tough to catch on the frontend as he goes for back-to-back wins at similar distances this meet. CANDY GRAN (5) ran well for his return to the dirt and dangerous tracking the early pace with KEE's leading rider this season.
Race 4: UNION JACKSON (1) broke his maiden very impressively at KEE earlier this month to be the main danger at the distance. POW WOW PAL (5) may have more to offer this time around, but top choice will be tough to beat. READY GET SET (7) appears ready in the a.m. with a good series of works to be a minor player tracking quick early pacesetters.
Race 5: CARINA MISS (6) showed early speed from the outside and finished second behind an impressive winner, STAGEPLAY. Filly should be the main threat in her second start this season. CHERYL D (9) is a daughter of UNCLE MO (19% sire with first time starters) with fast drills to be sharp for a 26% barn with newcomers. J LA TACHE (4) may get a change of tactics for this distance with a new rider aboard for a high percentage stable.
Race 6: HOUSE OF SOLE (2) has never been worse than second in eight career starts and the one to beat on or near the lead in this spot. ELUSIVE FATE (1) should like the slightly added distance today as she makes her third start off the break. FLEET BERTIE (4) should be sharp off the layoff (15% layoff barn) with good works over the track (WR).
Race 7: TAGHLEEB (4) is a sharp closer on the grass that will run with blinkers on for a top turf outfit. O' PRADO OLE (3) has good works since his last outing to bounce back after a faltering performance against graded stakes company for a 20% barn this meeting. ANY GIVEN ROYAL (2) has won at the distance and exits a strong effort in his latest.
Race 8: The Lafayette Stakes – FALLING SKY (2) is a distance specialist in this race and will be very dangerous with his early speed and full of class. DOUBLEDOWN AGAIN (6) is a sharp sprinter at shorter distances and should be quick from the gate with a sharp break first off the claim for the Maker barn (21%). MIDNIGHT CELLO (5) is a grade 3 winner that may improve in this spot with race on the dirt last time out and fast drill in the morning.
Race 9: CATANOVA (4) raced evenly last time out and should be tough just off the pace, but will have to hold off second choice late. COME AS YOU ARE (7) returns to the dirt to perform better than last and a serious stretch threat. BIG ROCK (9) runs short on the dirt first time with fast drills over the main track.
