Katie Mikolay Gensler's first exposure to racing came at a young age, attending Arlington Park with her family on weekends when she grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been the racing analyst at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana for the last three years. In addition to hosting the daily Churchill Downs Simulcast Network production of live Fair Grounds racing, Mikolay co-hosts the pre-race Fair Grounds Today show. She also contributes to FairGroundsRaceCourse.com as both a handicapper and blogger during the live Thoroughbred meeting and has made special appearances on HRTV and NBC Sports. During the summers, she performs similar duties at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, Pennsylvania for the 100-day race meet for the last five years. As an advocate for fan education, Katie has teamed up with America's Best Racing to teach wagering and produce racing 101 videos to increase horse racing awareness. She has been married to Thoroughbred horse trainer, Hank Gensler, for three years.

Race 1: COTTON CLUB CUTIE (3) runs first off the claim for 21% trainer and leads into the race off a win. ROB AND JON’S GIRL (5) has tactical speed and good form with good form on the dirt. PERFECT PRAISE (1) has run well at the distance and competes second start off the layoff.
Race 2: DEEP IN A DREAM (5) has a quick 3f drill in the a.m. for Wes Ward’s stable. READY FOR YOU (10) has several workouts to be fit and ready at first asking for a barn with recent success with 2yos. BANREE (8) is a filly facing the boys with two workouts over the track for the Ward barn.
Race 3: THIRTYSILVERPIECES (2) will be a tough customer second start of the break for winning connections. MUSASHI (3) should be tough from off the pace with a big drop in class. CIGARSZIN (4) cuts back in distance after a win going a flat mile and runs first off the claim for a high percentage trainer (28%).
Race 4: HEREDITARY (6) won his last two starts. He has been training well over the local surface. MUTASAAWY (3) has hit the board in the last three starts against allowance company as the beaten favorite. STRIKE TONE (5) also training sharply for his third career start for top connections.
Race 5: AVENTURE LOVE (11) has early speed and makes her first start of the year for a sharp trainer with horses off the layoff (30%). ZAMQUICK (12) should like the slightly longer distance to be a major player from the outside. TONY’S HOLLYDAY (3) has good works to be ready off the layoff and be a serious stretch threat.
Race 6: MESHELL (8) ran well in her first two outings and should continue to move forward third time out. BUZZER BEATER (5) has good form on the dirt going short for a capable trainer. CAP’S VOW (2) is well bred for the distance for a sharp trainer with first time starters (19%).
Race 7: ROAMING (1) should like the return to a shorter distance and gets class relief. I’M A LOOKER (5) fits well in this spot and leads into this race in top form. MOON METAL (4) was very impressive for her maiden victory, but may need a race off the layoff.
Race 8: MAGIC OF REALITY (4) makes her third start off the break for a peak effort and she runs for a hot barn. INDIAN RAINBOW (7) has class and good form on the grass going long for a top-notch turf barn. MARKET MAGIC (1) is sharp at the distance and leads into the race in top form.
Race 9: MR WISEGUY (4) makes his second start off the break and drops in class. SIMON BAR SINISTER (1) has early speed breaking from the rail. SAINT HENRY (5) has a quick gate workout on April 7th to be a contender in this wide-open race.
