Katie Mikolay Gensler's first exposure to racing came at a young age, attending Arlington Park with her family on weekends when she grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been the racing analyst at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana for the last three years. In addition to hosting the daily Churchill Downs Simulcast Network production of live Fair Grounds racing, Mikolay co-hosts the pre-race Fair Grounds Today show. She also contributes to FairGroundsRaceCourse.com as both a handicapper and blogger during the live Thoroughbred meeting and has made special appearances on HRTV and NBC Sports. During the summers, she performs similar duties at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, Pennsylvania for the 100-day race meet for the last five years. As an advocate for fan education, Katie has teamed up with America's Best Racing to teach wagering and produce racing 101 videos to increase horse racing awareness. She has been married to Thoroughbred horse trainer, Hank Gensler, for three years.

Race 1: TRAWEE (12) drops in class to find her way to the winner’s circle. THREAD BARE (7) returns off a short break with a decent effort on the dirt. DON’T MAKER MAD (8) ran third against similar to get another piece at 6-1.
Race 2: ELECTRIC TEMPTRESS (3) steps down in class for her second start off the break as he makes his second start off the claim. COLONEL JOHN (7) won easily wire to wire with a quick first quarter and faces winners in the right spot for two in a row. BLUTADDA (4) won at the distance, but struggle with other company on the frontend.
Race 3: GETTEM UP GIRL (9) is a strong closer that didn’t care for the sloppy track last time out. QUITE EXPLOSIVE (4) has consistent works to be ready off the layoff. He competes well against starter allowance foes at this level. FRANKS OFFICER GAL (1) has solid form over the dirt, but may have a tough time on the rail sitting just off the pace.
Race 4: LADY RELAUNCH (4) draws a good post to move forward and graduate today. He returns to the dirt with good works over the CD dirt. FINE CANDY (1) returns off the bench with several works for a sharp layoff barn (27%). SQUATTY (8) ran decent at first asking and could advance today.
Race 5: CALL ME WEST (1) may enjoy the added distance on the grass. BINGO KITTEN (3) ran third at the distance on the turf in a key race at Saratoga. NORTHEAST BOUND (6) finally broke his maiden at the distance.
Race 6: SKY HERO (7) ran green on debut, but expect a stronger effort second time out with a strong workout on Oct. 4th. HOTTAP (4) raced evenly on debut and was the beaten favorite. OLD MOUNTAIN LANE (2) has fast works, but has been training over the turf and the dirt. Colt was purchased for $520k as a 2yo.
Race 7: NICKLAUS WAY (8) runs well at the 7 furlong distance and leads into the race in top form. He should lay off the pace from the outside for a solid trip. SCHIVARELLI (10) has consistent works plus several fast breezes to be fit off the long break. He exits the G1 Wood Memorial, which he ran fourth behind WICKED STRONG. CATHOLIC COWBOY (4) should improve second start off the layoff.
Race 8: HONEY HUES (4) has class and could end up the lone speed in this race. NORTHERN PASSION (6) changes surfaces, but has kept nice company in recent starts. EMOTIONAL KITTEN (1) has won on the rail with a nice form over turf footing.
Race 9: HANDSOME DENNIS (1) runs second start off the claim hoping for a better pace scenario. VICTORY COLORS (9) step down in class for a better finish on the grass. JINX THE CAT (11) broke his maiden last time out and leads into the race in sharp form.
