    Saturday, October 21st, 2017

Race 1:  NONIKAS THUNDER (8) gets more ground to cover late as she moves to the dirt for winning connections.  LADY WARRIOR (4) has a decent performance to improve at second asking.  UNION OBSESSION (2) has a steady pattern of works to fit on debut.

    Picks 8-4-2

Race 2:  JEANNE’S SPEIGHT (1) has two solid performances against similar maiden runners and should be a major player once again while running first off the claim for 23% trainer.  TRIBAL TRANSIT (5) raced evenly in his first start with a new barn and likely to improve today.  HONOR’S PARADE (8) runs first off the claim for the Amoss stable (28%).

    Picks 1-5-8

Race 3:  SEEKING THE SOUL (5) leads into the race in top form and has the backclass to take him a long way.  CONQUEST WINDYCITY (7) may get a change in tactics with a new rider aboard and be competitive in stalking position.  CLEAR THE MINE (3) showed his old form in the slop last time out here and should be forwardly placed from the gate.

    Picks 5-7-3

Race 4:  KIRBY’S PENNY (7) (BEST BET) was claimed back into the Ward stable four starts back and dominating since to be the one to beat while returning to his favorite course.  BEACH FLOWER (4) will make his second start of the meet to show more over a fast track at a shorter distance today.  FLEET BERTIE (6) ran well in his latest over the track when wet and may continue to run well.

    Picks 7-4-6

Race 5:  TRACK ROSE (11) ran late to finish third on debut and likely improve at the longer distance in this spot today.  COACH ROCKS (10) will be one of the post time favorites and hopefully can handle the further yardage.  She seems to prefer the softer footing for a top notch stable.  LAST PLAY (9) gave a solid effort on the grass first time out and will be overlooked at the windows for a high percentage barn with turf runners.

    Picks 11-10-9

    Race 6:

Race 7:  ELUSIVE TRUTH (7) exits a good effort and the one to beat if she improves today and barn has been hot this meet.  AMERICA’S TALE (9) ran second to HEAVENLY LOVE and now cuts back in distance after showing early speed going a flat mile.  SMART SHOT (12) has an intriguing work out pattern to be ready on debut.

    Picks 7-9-12

Race 8:  SMILING CAUSEWAY (9) ran second behind RUBILINDA who came back and won the Pebble stakes at Belmont.  Filly has excellent form going short on the turf to be a major player.  CHERRY LODGE (2) has kept nice company in her career and training forwardly for a stellar performance.  EXCESSIVESPENDING (4) should like the cut back in distance with a sharp turf rider in the irons.

    Picks 9-2-4

Race 9:  The G2 Raven Run Stakes

CHALON (8) was trying to reach the winner, FINLEYSLUCKCHARM, who is a multiple graded stakes winner, in the TCA stakes on Oct. 7th at Keeneland.  He runs back quickly for a sharp barn and may succeed today against the 3yos.  NONNA MELA (4) won a graded stakes race as a 2yo and could not beat VERTICAL OAK in the slop in the G2 Prioress.  Filly returns off a brief freshening and should get a fast track to be tough today.  OVERTURE (2) won the G3 Indiana Oaks over the summer and did break her maiden stalking the early leaders going 7/8ths to be a player at long odds.

    Picks 8-4-2

Race 10:  JAUNT (9) exits a best effort and may move forward at the distance with jockey Ortiz retaining the mount.  SO CHARMING (3) made a late run in his latest and may get there in her second start off the break for capable connections.  TIME TO FLIRT (7) is knocking at the door to score her first win in a turf route.

    Picks 9-3-7
