Race 1: TEN CITY (6) has fast drills going 4fs to be feared at a slightly longer distance for a hot barn. NUCLEAR OPTION (5) runs for the sharp 2yo barn on the grounds that wins at 26% with first time starters. BREAKIN DAYLIGHT (1) runs for another capable barn with firsters (16%).
Race 2: CROOKED AS CAN BE (6) has some good works and drops in class to be the one to beat in race lacking early pace, which he likes to sit on or near the lead. LOTTO CAT (7) exits a win at the distance and fits well here. WAR POINT (5) runs well at longer distances and leads into this in top form.
Race 3: FUERZA (2) has been consistent on the grass and should improve in this spot. SLY RANGER (8) ran well first time over the softer footing and should move forward in this spot. NO FAULT (1) leads into the race off two solid performances to be a player.
Race 4: VITAL (7) is another Ward trainee to watch at this level with a decent breeze from the gate on 4/11. AMBERSPATRIOT (9) should be plenty fit with several works at first asking. ORBATRON (3) has good drills the last month to be a contender.
Race 5: PRINCESS LULU (12) broke her maiden at a similar distance on the grass and returns fresh with jockey Rosario aboard. SPELLKER (3) appears to be the most consistent sprinter on the turf in this race to throw into the mix. JERSEY HEIST (10) has been a sharp sprinter on the dirt and moves back to the turf to more of a threat.
Race 6: DEE DEE BERTIE (5) has a good series of works to be ready off a brief freshening and tough from the gate. AUDREY’S DOUBLE (3) exits a sharp performance while moving back to the dirt. KIRBY’S PENNY (1) won impressively over the track last time, but moved up in class to compete at a longer distance.
Race 7: TURBO STREET (6) ran well for his first start in the U.S. in the Tampa Bay Stakes on the grass and should move forward against lesser company. SECURITY RISK (11) should like the cut back in distance second start off the break and quick work on 4/10. SPECIAL OPS (8) also shortens up in distance and gets a better draw to show more today.
Race 8: FAT DADDY (8) makes several changes for his second lifetime start. He runs with blinkers on as a first time gelding and drops in class with jockey Rosario aboard. SWORDFISH (9) takes on lesser off the layoff to figure, but watch the odds for the right price. SHYSTERMEISTER (4) has a fast work over the CD’s dirt to attempt dirt first time and may benefit from a better draw with a new rider in the saddle.
