Race 1: CANDIP (4) has early speed from a sharp barn with sprinters. OFFICER GRIFFIN (1) hopes to bounce back after he was beat at long odds in the Bonapaw stakes. He has dangerous early speed from rail if ready off a short break. BASMATI (2) hopes for a contested pace for a good trip from off the pace.
Race 2: JROCK (2) has two decent efforts and runs for a capable trainer (14%) plus he faces a soft maiden claiming field for $100k. TAX DEDUCTION (1) exits a troubled trip and should be tough with a good trip today. CALHOUN (3) was squeezed at the start first time out. He has a good work (CL) over the track to be better this time around.
Race 3: JAZZ APPLE (1) looks for back-to-back wins as she leads into this race in good form facing a weak field. MISS HUNNY (3) was heavily bet in both of her career outings and training consistently for a decent effort first off the layoff for new connections (15%). JAZIL DAZIL (4) makes her second start over the track in an easier spot with blinkers off and a fast track.
Race 4: LITTLE ARIEL (1) may regress off a big win last time, but takes on a short field and good work since her last race to be ready just off the pace. CONTESTANT (7) goes for back-to-back wins with a top rider in the irons, but interesting move with the drop in class at short odds. BANDI’S GAL (2) is a 7yo mare that will be forwardly placed from the gate, and gets some class relief.
Race 5: STOMRY ROCIT (1) has been training sharply for his 5yo debut with already good form going short on the turf and picks up top rider of the meet. GREAT MINDS (7) goes for three wins in a row since he switched hands last year. FOREST ELF (5) has been consistent on the turf.
Race 6: SIR ALFRED (6) should win this race with blinkers on for the Pletcher stable. He ran a close second behind one of the 3yos in the country, DONWORTH, in his latest. BROKEN CLOUD (3) displayed talent at first asking and training well with first time Lasix. MOON CLOSER (8) was fairly bet on debut and cuts back in distance with a new rider aboard.
Race 7: WAKE UP JOE (1) runs well fresh and good work over the track (CL). DATA DRIVEN (6) was purchased for $175k at the 2yo in training sales and won first time out for a hot barn. FIRST SPRAK (9) broke his maiden in a competitive maiden allowance race and top rider picks up the mount.
Race 8: DANZA CAVALLO (5) has been fierce runner across the pond and ran well in her first U.S. start to be the main threat from high percentage barn, Chad Brown. She has a really good work on the turf here to be ready off winter break (27%). SISTAS STROLL (4) has good form on the turf going long at several different turf courses. PATSY’S HOLIDAY (2) makes her third start off the layoff for the Pletcher stable off a good effort.
Race 9: The Grade 3 Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare Stakes
DECEPTIVE VISION (9) returns off the bench with consistent workouts, and will be the one to catch if she’s ready. TIZ WINDY (9) needed her race last time and should be more of a threat second time off the layoff. She was 4-1 odds in a graded stakes race and should get a good trip from off the pace. MY MISS SOPHIA (8) was a nice horse at one time and training sharply for a huge comeback. The graded stakes winner ran second behind multiple grade 1 winner, UNTAPABLE, in the KY Oaks.
Race 10: ALDRIN (7) should enjoy the cut back in distance and has a good work with DATA DRIVEN (races earlier in the card). HOLLYWOOD CRITIC (6) also looks like he will like the shorter distance and tries the dirt first time for new connections. PAPA BRAVO (1) improved last time and should like the longer distance.
