    Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson has grown up with horses in Kentucky. She began her career with Thoroughbreds at North Ridge Farm in Lexington, KY where she worked with foaling mares and yearlings. She moved on from there to work for Carl Nafzger as an assistant trainer and exercise rider. After the birth of her daughter she changed careers to handicapping for the Daily Racing Form. Once the Daily Racing Form closed its handicapping department in Lexington, Kim was very fortunate to land a position with Marylou Whitney Stables. She is now the assistant racing and breeding manager for Mrs. Whitney.

    Race 1
Late Night Lu finished 2nd with similar earlier in the meet. 7-5 morning line favorite and looks like he should be. #5 Golden Story has a really sharp work over the course and is a strong contender. #4 Casa Creek backs up to 6 furlongs from a 2 turn race and could be a player.

#5 Secret Jewel was an expensive yearling purchase. She has 2 starts under her belt and should be ready to roll here. 1A Cat’s Claw brings a big Beyer number from her last race.  She closed fast in that one and Garcia will have her running down the lane again here. #10 Magnolia Lane is making her 3rd start of this cycle. Lovely pedigree and the added distance should suit her.

#1 Tarpy’s Surprise seldom misses a check and comes in fresh here. He looks tough in this spot. #4 Only in America is another consistent performer. Stepping up in company here but numbers are strong. #2 Catbird Seat has 2 wins back to back. Filly in tough with the boys but form suggests she can fit here.

#3 Bailoutbobby has been off since December but previous form is strong and he does have a win over the course. Barn is very capable of getting a horse ready off the layoff. #9 Expecting Cash won over the track in the first week of the meet here. He should be sharp again. #6 Strong Resolve is making his 2nd start at this meet. He finished 2nd to Expecting Cash last out.

#1 Enchanting Lisa hasn’t missed a check in 4 starts. She has had the winter off but the Lopresti barn is one of the best at bringing horses back off the layoff ready to win. #12 Chat is making her U.S debut. She has really sharp works over the course and barn is strong with these types. Gets in light with the very talented bug rider Dylan Davis. #7 Concise is another that has been away awhile but barn is strong off the layoff and filly has enough class to prove dangerous with these.

#6 Bird Tap walked out of the gates in his last start and still managed to be beat only 2 lengths for all of it. #10 Commandment is cutting back in distance which there is a high percentage of 7 furlong races won by horses cutting back from 2 turns. He looks to be a solid sort and comes over with top connections. #11 Seal Six has a sharp work and a good Beyer number over the poly.
