    Friday, October 20th, 2017

Race 1:  VOLODINA (2) was impressive on debut when he won from the pace with a tough break and bumped around trip.  HARBOR LIGHTS (3) may perform better after a poor performance in the G2 Pocohantas.  STRONGER THAN EVER (5) is another fresh off his maiden victory that won impressively and he’s well bred to handle the distance.

    Picks 2-3-5

Race 2: NAUTIA (2) ran third behind a runaway winner after stalking the pace and may be in the right spot in this soft maiden claiming race.  BLUE RIDGE GIRL (5) gets some class relief after showing early speed in his latest.  AWESOME GAL (8) hopes to improve over a fast track for his third start off the layoff.

    Picks 2-5-8

Race 3:  MANHATTAN MISCHIEF (3) should be a major player from gate to wire at this level.  BOURBON COWBOY (1) has been running well from the pace and exits a 4th place effort in the HBPA Sprint stakes, but zero wins at the distance.  ABBAA (5) was claimed back by this barn and may put pressure on top choice early.

    Picks 3-1-5

Race 4:  DIXIE LOVER (5) gets away from the rail for her second start off the claim and strong record at the distance.  DISTRICT ATTORNEY (6) ran well here in the past to be a player second off the break with a sharp 3f drill.  WISHIHADA (3) could be the quickest of them all with a brief freshening for a sharp barn.

    Picks 5-6-3

Race 5:  QUAIL HUNT (2) seem to like the soft footing when he was third behind ARCHAGGELOS who came back to win the G3 Grey Stakes.  UP THE ANTE (10) raced evenly and should improve at second asking for a high percentage trainer in this spot.  NEVERQUITDREAMING (3) showed early speed caught in a speed duel before quitting and should be forwardly placed on the stretch out.

    Picks 2-10-3

Race 6:  COMMANDEERING (2) has two solid sprints and now returns to a route distance for his third start off the layoff with jockey Velazquez in for the mount.  FIREBALL SHOT (5) has the best efforts at the distance and today could be the day for the longtime maiden.  BIG DOLLAR BILL (7) moves back to the dirt after three strong finishes on the turf and good enough to get a piece.

    Picks 2-5-7

Race 7:  FAIR POINT (8) comes out of a key race, which the third place finisher, MORTICIA, won the G3 Buffalo Trace here next out. She appears to be the one to beat at the distance on the turf for a competitive turf outfit.  TRIPLE CHELSEA (4) ran fourth behind top female turf sprinter LADY AURELIA in the Giants Causeway here last spring and strong first off the claim barn put her where she belongs while moving up in class.  RING KNOCKER (5) is another lady that runs first off the claim with sharp efforts on the grass and may fall under the radar for a hot barn.

    Picks 8-4-5

Race 8:  UNCLE MOJO (6) returns off a brief break after two solids dirt routes races and runs with blinkers off for trainer Todd Pletcher.  CEDARTOWN (2) has been a strong runner at the distance, but this appears to be a move up in class.  BLUERIDGE TRAVELER (4) has a good series of works to be ready off the long layoff after finishing runner-up in the G3 Spiral.

    Picks 6-2-4

Race 9:  The G2 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes

FAULT (7) won the G3 Pucker Up two starts back and gave another honest effort in the G2 Sands Point against LA CORONEL and UNI.  JOURNEY HOME (9) was second behind top choice and the brief freshening may be key to her success.  DOLCE LILI (10) never ran a bad race and could be in right spot to display his talent facing graded staked company first time for one of the top turf outfits in the country (25%).

    Picks 7-9-10

Race 10: SECRET SPEED (8) has several drills for a top notch first time starter barn with high expectations on this one ($400k sales purchase).  LINBURGH’S KITTEN (6) may like the shorter distance and interesting move up in class after showing speed going long.  PRYOR (12) is well bred that has a strong workout pattern to give a second look for a capable trainer and drawn well to the outside.

    Picks 8-6-12
