    Wednesday / October 18

    Race 1

Santa Americana (7) goes for a trainer who has good numbers with horses off this kind of layoff plus the turf-to-dirt angle.  Put him in an exacta box with Tsunami and Levato.  Exacta box 7-4-6

    Race 2

Royal Asset (1) has speed from the rail and this one was a winner on this track in the spring meet.  Key this one in exacta boxes with Blue Wings, Speightsong and Control Stake.  Exacta boxes 1-5, 1-4, 1-2

    Race 3

Petrov (3) takes a major class drop and is one I think you can "single" if you're taking a shot at the big Pick 6 carryover on today's card.  Petrov was on the Derby trail but seems better around one turn and he may be able to follow the path of a horse like Whitmore, who has become a top class sprinter.  Key this one in exactas with Excitations (the only one I can see with a chance to upset the favorite here) and Major Munnings.  Exacta boxes 3-1, 3-2

    Race 4

Card Club (3) could be dangerous here.  She drops from tougher company and shows some good local works for Lukas, who has had a few runners to light up the toteboard at this meet.  Kantastic and first-time-starter Drinks On Me are strong contenders and My Dark Secret is worth a look.  Both them all.  Exacta box 3-4-7-5

    Race 5

Audacious Angel (3) doesn't have a good win record but most of the starts came before she entered Mike Maker's barn.  In the third start for him, she drops in class and Maker does well with the turf-to-dirt angle.  Use this one an exacta box with Controversy and White Gold.   Exacta box 3-10-1

    Race 6

Mississippi (7) is a first-time starter for Casse and this one was purchased for a price well above the stud fee at a two-year old sale earlier this year.  I expect him to be ready to run in the debut and if you need a second "single" in the Pick 6, this could be it.  However, I think the 1/1a entry is dangerous, too.  Exacta box 7-1

    Race 7

No standout in this spot so I'm looking for a price and I'll go with Now Power (8).  She gets Leparoux in the saddle, comes out of some tough races at Saratoga and shows a good local work.  Use this one in an exacta box with as many of these as your budget allows (in order of preference)--Frizzy Friday, Sensitive, Light Up Our World and Brooks House.  Exacta box 8-10-9-1-2

    Race 8

Candy My Boy (1) looks well-spotted here off the class drop and with the asset of early speed.  The fact that this one is making only his third start of the year means there could be some upside left.  Belvin (9) is the next preference, followed by Gabriel's Cat and Academy Bay.  Exacta boxes 1-9, 1-3, 1-5

    Late Pick 4 (starts in race 5):  3,10,1 with 7,1 with 8,10,9,1,2 with 1,9,3,5

    Pick 6 (starts in race 3):  3 with 3,4,7 with 3,10,1 with 7,1 with 8,10,9,1 with 1,9
