    Katie Gensler

    Katie Mikolay Gensler's first exposure to racing came at a young age, attending Arlington Park with her family on weekends where she grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been a racing analyst for the last nine years and has worked at multiple racetracks across the country. She also has made special appearances on TVG Network, Fox Sports and NBC Sports. Katie has been a Paddock analyst for Keeneland since the 2013 Spring Meet. She’s also a weekly video blogger on KeenelandSelect.com. As an advocate for fan education, Katie has teamed up with Horse Player Now to teach Horse Racing 101 and wagering to increase horse racing awareness.

    Race 1:  DALAMAN (7) should improve at second asking after displaying some tactical ability.  FLATEXCEL (8) has several works to be ready at first bat, but interesting spot to be starting in a maiden claimer.  NO LIMIT (5) does get involved early, but the easier company may help him sustain or improve his position.

    Race 2:  RUN JUJA RUN (1) has early speed from the rail with a good work to be sharp and ready at the shorter distance.  KLASSIE CONNECT (8) rallied late to just miss in his latest and the main stretch threat in this race.  NEWPORT BLUE (7) could continue to move forward today with an improved effort and class relief while moving to the dirt.

    Race 3:  DRAXHALL WOODS (9) wins popularity contest for most claims in this race as he once again runs first off the claim for the Kenneally barn (21%) and drops in tag after he was claimed for $12,500.  LUCKY LOTTO (10) performs well at the distance and likely to improve off latest effort.  ELECTRIFYING (4) has tactical speed, but does best work at shorter distances to make sure price right.

    Picks 9-10-4

    Race 4: MYDRINKSELECTION (5) goes for two straight wins after an impressive wire to wire victory last out and bullet drill on 10/07.  BE A FACTOR (1) may get a dream set-up with a race full of early speed to be a serious threat late for winning connections.  TIGER EYES (8) is one of early runners drawn to the outside with recent two consecutive wins and training over the surface.

    Picks 5-1-8

    Race 5:  HAVE AT IT (7) has two solid efforts on the grass to be one of the maidens to beat in this wide open event plus runs for a sharp turf outfit and better draw.  LION’S SHARE (2) has a solid turf pedigree to be dangerous at good odds today.  ROYAL HOLIDAY (5) training well for another strong effort and nicely bred for a bright future. 

    Picks 7-2-5

    Race 6:  TAKETOTHESTREETS (6) has run well off layoffs in the past with his strongest efforts coming at the distance.  He has a good series of works to suggest he’s ready.  RICH DADDY (3) is a consistent runner to handle the move up in class off a win.  LUNA DE LOCO (9) competes first off the claim as a first time gelding and early speed, but the outside post may be challenge.

    Race 7:  KRISSY’S CANDY (4) has displayed some talent on debut last February and must’ve dealt with an issue, but she’s back and training well with a sharp work from the gate to be a threat from high percentage barn.  DIAMOND TAP (11) is a 3yo TAPIT of a STORM CAT mare with powerful works to consider on debut.  CHRIS COVE TOWN (7) made a mild rally on the grass first time out and should improve today.

    Picks 4-11-7

    Race 8:  COWBOY RHYTHM (3) leads into the race in solid form with tactical speed and good record over the course.  SINGING BULLET (8) is well bred colt that has been in some tough racing.  He has been working sharply in the am since his fourth place finish against similar at a shorter distance last out.  GOATS TOWN (5) likely needed the race last time and good works may lead to a strong finish with jockey Landeros aboard at 12-1 odds.

    Race 9:  SULTRY (7) exits the G2 Pocahontas and should be fair well better in this spot with a return to a better suited distance.  QUICK QUICK QUICK (11) has two solids performances in sprints.  WAKI PATRIOT (3) has faced stakes company the last six starts to be dangerous while breezing sharply from the gate.

    Race 10:  LOVE MO (1) exits a key maiden allowance race which the winner was DQ’d came back and won the G3 Miss Grillo Stakes and Gio Game broke her maiden opening weekend at KEE.  LENAMARIE (5) ran second with a huge late run on the grass at Kentucky Downs.  STELLA MALONE (8) is a well bred filly who woke up on the grass last out.
