    April 9th, 2017

Race 1:  FIVE STAR FACTOR (4) broke her maiden at the distance and ran third behind multiple stakeswinner Chanel’s Legacy to be a major player at this lower level.  SHACKIN UP (1) should be the main danger right from the gate with sharp recent works.  DIAL ME (6) gets some class relief and new rider in the saddle plus she will be plenty fit for the shorter distance.

    Picks 4-1-6

Race 2:  PARIS CRUISE (10) has a classy pedigree and decent work over the track on 4/1 for the top-notch two-year-old trainer, Wes Ward’s barn.  HAPPY LIKE A FOOL (11) is the other Ward trainee to consider at this level from this barn and nice breeze from the gate in company with top choice.  OUR GIRL ABBY (6) has several fast works over synthetic footing and barn has their fare share wins with debut runners.

    Picks 10-11-6

Race 3:  LADY FOG HORN (4) is the one to beat if ready off the bench.  She has a good workout tab and possesses tactical speed when she competes, but have to take short odds on this one.  LAVENDER CHRISSIE (6) will have to overcome the fact she hasn’t competed since a year and half ago, but barn should have her ready so make sure price is right.  DEAR ELAINE (3) has the dangerous early speed and loves to compete at Keeneland.

    Picks 4-6-3

Race 4:  IM THE CAPTAIN NOW (2) ran a solid effort on the turf first time out this year.  YOSHIDA (4) ran well on debut last November to be a serious contender if he repeats his lone effort with hopefully a move forward.  CAPE ANGEL (1) raced evenly for his first attempt going long on the grass and should improve in this spot.

    Picks 2-4-1

Race 5:  NEWFOUND GOLD (7) keeps winning since his triumphant score last season here and the 10yo is the one to beat on or near the lead.  FOURTH OF JULY (8) may prefer the synthetic over dirt, but possesses a good turn of foot while at the top of his game.  WAR EAGLE’S RETURN (2) exits a win and should be stalking from the inside as a major player.

    Picks 7-8-2

Race 6: SWIFT ONE (9) tries dirt fist time, but barn should have him ready to take a step forward today.  DOS CUERNOS (2) was caught in a speed duel last time and now switches hands with a nice work from the gate.  HURRICANE FORCE (7) ran full force to break his maiden last time out and may continue to dominate against winners first time sitting just off the early pace.

    Picks 9-2-7

Race 7:  DIVISIDERO (6) makes his third start of the year with twice beaten against graded stakes company to get some class relief.  He has sharp drills and a sharp turf rider in the irons to succeed today, hopefully at good odds.  PROJECTED (2) should be forwardly placed from the gate for good trip at a longer distance for his second start in the U.S.  TAKE THE STAND (10) should be tough if ready off the long break.  He has a versatile running style that could take him a long way to the winner’s circle.

    Picks 6-2-10

Race 8:  The Grade III Beaumont Stakes

SWEET LORETTA (3), a G1 winner, has been training forwardly for a sharp effort in her first start this year.  She needs to break well to be the main danger in stalking position.  TREBLE (4) has been the favorite in her first three starts at Oaklawn. She has excellent dirt form at similar distances and may get a decent price today.  DANCING RAGS (5) won the G1 Alcibiades at Keeneland going two turns so distance may be a concern, but barn should have her ready to fire on all cylinders.

    Picks 3-4-5

Race 9:  BROOKLYN BOBBY (2) has two solid tries on the grass and gets a new rider aboard in hopes of a change of tactics to handle the further distance.  MOROCCO (3) seem to handle the turf well in a key race, although, he did not get the best trip.  ARKLOW (6) gets some major class relief and a top rider in the irons.

    Picks 2-3-6
