    Wednesday / October 11

    Race 1

La Manta Gris (5) caught a tough group last time at Kentucky Downs and should find the competition a little softer here--plus she has a pedigree to relish 12 furlongs.  Key her in exacta boxes with Eqho, Clever Girl and Downtown Kitten.  Exacta boxes 5-2, 5-1, 5-4

    Race 2

Just Blaze (6) is a question mark on dirt but the 6-1 morning line price is enticing on a horse with good speed and with a trainer who does good work with two-year olds.  Take a shot with this one and key in exactas.  Exacta boxes 6-5, 6-7, 6-4

    Race 3

Playing a hunch here with Call Me (1) on the rail.  I like the win-early-slanted pedigree and the connections are usually firing their best shot when they show up at Keeneland.  Out of Hydeing (7) is intriguing because Castellano takes the mount on this and the works are solid.  Key both in exactas and add Rockingham Mel plus Monteleone.  Exacta box 1-7-6-5

    Race 4

I'll let the jock agents handicap this one because there are only two riders in the race that have won a race at the meet--James Graham and Joe Rocco.  I'll lean to Rocco's mount, Exactness (2), whose races two and three starts back look very strong in this group but One Sock Mauk (9) comes off a win and merits respect.  I'll add Good Samarui for a trainer who is strong off the claim plus Fearless Majesty.  Exacta box 2-9-1-12

    Race 5

An ultra-tough Pick 4 sequence starts here and I lean to the red-hot Casse barn.  I'm giving a slight nod to American Halo (11) because the price is better and I think the horse that beat her last time is a good one.  But Bridaled Temper (12) is the one to beat off a good second-place finish at Kentucky Downs and being out of  Sadler's Well mare.  Key those two on top in exactas and add Daddy Is a Legend, Lemons from Avery, Going Out and Le Dame Blanche underneath.  Exacta part-wheel 11,12 with 11,12,7,9,5,3

    Race 6

CZ Rocket's big Beyer will draw lots of money but I like to play against those kind of big-figure first-time winners when they're facing some runners who are more battle-tested.  Two of those types stick out for me--Benefactor (2) and Speedmeiser (8).  Both come off stamina-building runs at Kentucky Downs and I'll lean to the former for a win pick off a top three finish in group 3 company overseas.  And consider adding Gray Sky and Lenstar underneath.  Exacta part-wheel 2,8 with 2,8,1,11,9

    Race 7

in the JP Morgan Chase Jessamine, I'll take a big swing with Cash Out, who is double digits on the morning line.  In an interview for Keeneland's You Tube channel and social media, trainer Rusty Arnold gushed about this one's potential and she took some money in her debut run at Saratoga.  Key her in exactas with Rushing Fall, Mentality, Miss Mo Mentum and Thewayjam.  Exacta boxes 6-2, 6-10, 6-4, 6-12

    Race 8

if Chilling Secret (13) draws in, she's my pick off a good runnerup effort at Churchill.  If not, I'll take Silver Cowboy (4) on the class drop and a good worktab.  Neopolitan (8) goes for a trainer who does well with horses making their debut at this level and Surprise Prize (2) merits a long look on the drop from straight maiden company.  Exacta box 13-4-8-2 (and add 12 is your budget allows).

    Late Pick 4 (starts in race 5):  11,12 with 2,8,1 with 6,2,4,10, 12 with 13,4,8,2 (and 12?)
