Race 1: SANDBAR (2) runs first off the claim and drops to the lowest claiming of his career. He has recent works and runs with blinkers on. Barn has been hot this meet. HOLIDAY WEAVE (4) should be tough from off the pace in a race full of early speed. MUAZZAZ (5) may be the best of the early speed and runs for a competitive stable with five wins this season.
Race 2: CALI STAR (5) just missed at the distance last time out and is the one to beat. JUDY LEGEND (4) runs for sharp connections and he should be the main threat to top choice with a better break and trip today. LOTS O’ LEX (6) is a lightly raced filly that is bred for the distance, which she stretches out first time.
Race 3: OUTLAW CHASE (3) flashed early speed then quit in the mud last time out. Barn will change riders and remove blinkers for a sharp effort over a fast track. ARTEMUSMAILCARRIER (4) should win, but he will be a short price in a maiden race. He drifted out in the slop and should perform better over a fast track. MR CLASSIC SENECA (1) always quits going the same distance with multiple class drops to make sure the price is right.
Race 4: MAJESTICO (7) has three solid efforts on the grass and has the best form of this bunch to make him a major player today. TWENTY GAUGE (2) ran second in both of his career starts plus he was runner-up to the Dixianna Bourbon stakeswinner, LAWN RANGER, in his latest on the grass. FORT DIXIE (5) exits several troubled trips and with a clean trip from a good draw, he could improve vastly today.
Race 5: PENOBSCOT (4) exits his best performance on the dirt when he rallied late for a strong finish and now moves up in class to face maiden allowance foes once again. COSMO BLUE (2) has early speed that may like the longer distance for the leading barn on the grounds. DR. TURKMEN (6) has two strong sprint races under him to be a threat going long with a top jockey in the irons.
Race 6: HANDSOME DENNIS (9) exits a sharp effort and should be able to handle the turn back in distance looking at past performances in quicker pace scenarios. STROLL TO VICTORY (6) has been consistent in recent effort and should be a threat if he likes the move to the dirt. HAWAAKOM (3) broke his maiden on the dirt and has fast works to be ready off the bench for a 16% layoff barn.
Race 7: COOL COWBOY (5) appears to be the speed of the speed and looks ready off the layoff with a fast works in the a.m. BUMP START (1) will have to overcome the inside draw, but race sets up well for the 3yo ridgling from off the pace plus he has been training well in the morning (clocker’s report). I GOT IT ALL (8) has a versatile running style to be tough from the outside.
Race 8: CAPTAIN DIXIE (13) seems to have the speed and stamina to run a flat mile on the grass if he draws into the race. GALTON (5) exits a strong field of allowance company and draws a better post for his second start at this level. ARCHWAY TO HEAVEN (7) has tactical speed and good form on the grass.
Race 9: The Grade II HAGYARD FAYETTE STAKES
DEPARTING (2) ran second behind graded stakeswinner, CIGAR STREET, last time out and may have needed the race for a stronger effort at the distance. He loves the distance and is the class of the race. LONG RIVER (7) was caught by two horses including Belmont winner, TONALIST, last time and he may continue to run well taking on easier company. STEPHANOATSEE (3) exits the same race as second choice with a troubled trip. He has been training well and gets top jockey in the irons.
Race 10: MARKET APPEAL (10) rallied late to finish second at first asking and should like the longer distance on the turf for winning connections. MACCHIATO (2) was runner-up in a key race. The winner, PRADO’S SWEET RIDE, came back and won a competitive allowance race at Keeneland. WATSUI (5) is a well-bred filly that likes to run late. The added ground should suit her today.
