Race 1: SELF STARTER (1A) just missed in his latest in a key race.  He has a good work over the main track as he tries the dirt first time against lesser maidens.  MILTEE (5) drops in class and shortens up in distance for a sharp sprinter barn.  MAJESTIC RIDE (9) runs first off the claim for a low percentage barn, but he has early speed and exits a tough race, which the winner won by 12 ¼ lengths.

    Picks 1A-5-9

Race 2:  BIG LEGACY (7) exits a win over the track this meet and the one to beat on or near the lead from the outside in a short field.  SLAN ABHAILE (1) ran a close second behind top choice and may succeed with a sharper break this time.  GO DUKE GO (5) has a good work since his poor effort last time and top rider retains the mount.

    Picks 7-1-5

Race 3:  VOODOO STORM (7) runs first off the claim for a high percentage barn (30%) and should set up well for the closer to possibly get his first win at the distance in twelve attempts so make sure the price is right.  SOUTH TO THE SEA (4) should improve off his latest performance and he has early speed, but doesn’t need the lead.  BIG KICK (1) returns off a long break and drops in class to be vulnerable as the favorite in this spot though he has good works in the am.

    Picks 7-4-1

Race 4:  CELESTIAL INSIGHT (2) rallied late to win going 6f on the grass and should like the stretch out if she’s anything like her stakeswinning dam, BIA AND BIA.  MARQUEE MISS (9) exits a tough field, the grade 1 Alcibiades at KEE, which gave her a race at the distance to improve in this spot.  MISS OTIS (6) broke her maiden at the distance on the turf to be a serious threat from off the pace today.

Race 5:  HARLANSPERFECTION (9) made a late run with a wide trip going short at first asking.  Barn tough with 2yos and this one should like the longer distance.  PICK POCKET (7) has two good efforts from a sharp 2yo barn to be tough in this spot if she likes the move to the dirt.  ESCALANTE (8) is well bred for today’s distance to be considered at decent odds if ready off the short layoff.

Race 6:  HOT SQUAD (6) pressed the early pace the entire trip at first asking and should be the main threat in this spot.  WAR STROLL (4) has the experience edge with a race over the track.  PATTON PROUD (7) has a good series of works to a contender first time out.  The stakeswinning dam, ELUSIVE HORIZON, won at the distance and barn does well with newcomers (15%) especially prominent with 2yos this meet.

    Picks 6-4-7

Race 7:  IMAGINING (8) returns off a brief freshening, which he runs well fresh and has a strong record at the distance.  He’s full of class and the one to beat.  MARGANO (3) exits a troubled trip and makes his third start off the layoff.  The 6yo should be especially dangerous if it’s a wet turf course.  COUGAR RIDE (9) appears good enough to hit the board at 10-1 odds plus he won his last two starts on the grass.

    Picks 8-3-9

Race 8:  TIGER MOTH (8) exits a key race in the mud as she faces allowance company again for a winning effort.  She’s a consistent runner for the Pletcher stable that should be dangerous in tracking position.  GAMBLERS ROSE (3) ran well in her latest and should like the turn back in distance especially in the mud.  CARMENERE (9) is a sharp closer that has decent dirt form at 12-1 odds.

    Picks 8-3-9

Race 9:  The Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes – MRS MCDOUGAL (13) won a graded stakes race two starts back and raced evenly with a wide trip in her latest to move forward in today’s feature.  OSAILA (7) exits the same race as top choice, which she beat her by a ¼ of a length and gets first time Lasix for her second start in the U.S though its her first start with trainer Todd Pletcher.  She may like the turf conditions with the expected rain in the forecast.  SUNSET GLOW (10) may struggle with the distance, but she has early speed and plenty of class to fit with this bunch.  She has a powerful drill on Oct. 18th to be ready.

    Picks 13-7-10

Race 10:  I’MBETTERTHANGOOD (7) gave a strong effort in his latest to leap forward second time over the track for a capable barn.  TRECASTLE (6) is well bred for the longer distance, but tries dirt first time so hopefully a good price on the Ramsey/Maker duo.  LA MACCHINA (3) won easy in his latest, but his winning jockey opts to ride top choice in this spot.  Barn wins a good share of claiming races at KEE.

    Picks 7-6-3
