Race 1: OUT TO SEA (1) has early speed in a race lacking early pace with an inside post and top rider Lanerie in the irons. AL’S ROSIE (3) runs better on the turf, but takes on a soft field to be a contender on the dirt back to two turns. TOO COOL (6) won on the dirt last month and exits a troubled trip.
Race 2: PERSIE (5) tries a longer distance to move forward after a disappointing effort in a sprint against stakes company. The dam, SLY BUTTERFLY, was a stakewinner at the distance on the dirt. DEEP IN A DREAM (6) should improve second time going route over a fast track at low odds. TRIPLE CREEK (2) is a first time starter with good series works for sharp barn that wins at 17% in this spot.
Race 3: HUNTER’S STRIKE (6) broke his maiden at the distance and could set-up well to get another winning trip as he drops in tag first time tag. HOW ABOUT HIM (5) runs for the sharp Larry Jones stable with horses off the layoff and fast drills in the a.m. He should be dangerous from the gate. CURLINO (4) seems to run better at longer distances and the $375k purchase runs for a $50k tag today at 5-2 odds.
Race 4: GAME TRAIL (7) improved at a longer distance last time as she attempts two turns for a second time for an improvement with a new trainer in a soft maiden claiming field could add to success for this filly. LOVE THE KITTEN (2) has several decent efforts on the grass going long, but runs first time tag and moves back to the dirt at 6-5 odds. SENSUOUS PAT (4) showed speed and quit first time out now gets Lasix and moves to the dirt.
Race 5: ONE LIZ (3) has been a sharp runner since especially since turning 4yo and should be the main danger in this group. BESIDE STILL WATER (1) had the lead midstretch going a mile and sixteenth and should like the turn back in distance. FACTORY OF FAITH (2) has decent efforts on the grass to figure in the exotics.
Race 6: LADY DAY BLUES (12) came running to finish second behind a comeback winner and she could reach the wire first this time. MIDNIGHT VISITOR (2) should run better at second asking with same rider aboard. TERRA PROMESA (4), a CURLIN filly, on debut for Stonestreet Stables with a good series of works for a 15% trainer.
Race 7: INDUSTRIAL POLICY (5) has kept nice company in turf races from east to west coasts, and she turns to KEE, which she is undefeated (1/1) and nice work after a tiring effort in her latest. Barn doing well this meet and mare likes the distance on the grass. ANNULMENT (1) will be tough from the inside with her consistency and ground saving tactics. PATSY’S HOLIDAY (2) hasn’t won since last year, but one to consider with jockey Leparoux in the irons and runs for the Pletcher stable.
Race 8: PI (9) improved in his latest in a key race and rider Mena back in the irons with a substantial drop in class. RUNWAY BLVD. (10) hopes for a better effort for new barn off the claim that adds blinkers. BELISAMA (4) cuts back in distance after showing speed last time out and barn also adds the hood against lesser maidens.
