Katie Mikolay Gensler's first exposure to racing came at a young age, attending Arlington Park with her family on weekends when she grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. She has been the racing analyst at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana for the last three years. In addition to hosting the daily Churchill Downs Simulcast Network production of live Fair Grounds racing, Mikolay co-hosts the pre-race Fair Grounds Today show. She also contributes to FairGroundsRaceCourse.com as both a handicapper and blogger during the live Thoroughbred meeting and has made special appearances on HRTV and NBC Sports. During the summers, she performs similar duties at Presque Isle Downs in Erie, Pennsylvania for the 100-day race meet for the last five years. As an advocate for fan education, Katie has teamed up with America's Best Racing to teach wagering and produce racing 101 videos to increase horse racing awareness. She has been married to Thoroughbred horse trainer, Hank Gensler, for three years.

Race 1: IMPROV (5) ran well first time out and was the beaten favorite with a stumbled start in her latest. WASATCH (6), CURLIN filly, reunites with rider Velazquez for a better effort as she makes her 3yo debut performance at a longer distance. FINE INSTINCTS (4) runs with first time blinkers with a two decent efforts from the Pletcher stable.
Race 2: ARI’S PRIDE (8) has been consistent in the last three starts and exits a fourth place effort beaten a head for third against a competitive group of claimers. PADEN (5) should be tough with a brief freshening sitting just off the pace. Two sharp workouts over local surface (WR). PETEIZUM (3) should improve this time out.
Race 3: SWEETGRASS (1) exits an impressive performance to break her maiden. STREET SENSE appears to be talented and a solid threat from off the pace. WHITE CLOVER (7) returns to a shorter distance, which seems to better suit her ability. She faced a tougher field in her latest including her stablemate and multiple graded stakeswinner, I’M A CHATTERBOX. HONE IN (6) won by nearly twenty-four lengths at Gulfstream to snatch her first win.
Race 4: PROSPECTOR’ D’ORO (2) showed early speed first time out and should improve at second asking. ISLAND FEVER (5) ran well against maiden claimers last time out. GREELY’S STRIKER (6) has hit the board in all eight starts and drops in class.
Race 5: THUNDER BAY (1) is a well-bred filly that loves the distance and should be a contender from off the pace. STREETTHREAT (3) has a strong series of workouts to be ready off the layoff sitting just off the lead. KATHBALLU (6) improved late in her last race to move forward today.
Race 6: LOS BORRACHOS (11) is a sharp turf runner from off the pace that should improve off his latest runner-up performance. MELVILLE (12) has a tough post to overcome, but runs well at the distance on the grass for a sharp outfit (22%). IDIOSYNCRATIC (1) has been training well to be ready for another solid effort going a flat mile over the soft footing.
Race 7: BOONE STATION (7) has plenty of fast drills to be ready first time out for sharp connections in a wide-open event. HOW ABOUT HIM (9) raced evenly on debut and training well since to be a major player. WILD AND UNBRIDLED (4) has bullet workouts over the local course (WR) and should be nice price.
Race 8: RAPSCALLION (5) ran well in his lone start on the dirt at Keeneland. He has early speed and barn teams up with top rider Velazquez. TRANSPARENT (7) is a well-traveled 5yo stakeswinner with two wins at the distance. He should be stalking the pace from the outside. CATHOLIC COWBOY (4) should make a turnaround after a faltering race against grade one competition. Nice bullet on March 28th.
Race 9: The Grade III Transylvania Stakes
Night Prowler (9) exits a troubled trip as the beaten favorite in the GIII Palm Beach. LUCK OF THE KITTEN (10) runs with blinkers off and nice drills to be ready off the bench. DANISH DYNAFORMER (6) overcame a troubled trip to break his maiden going long on the grass at 11-1. He’s a player at 6-1 morning line.
Race 10: MOONLIT METEOR (5) won his last three starts to be tough to beat in the finale today. GIBSON’S BULLET (4) leads into the race in sharp form. He runs first off the claim with a rider switch so watch the odds. ALL STAR BELL (7) has run well on the dirt in the past. He should be tough just off the pace.
