    Kim Nelson

Kim Nelson has grown up with horses in Kentucky. She began her career with Thoroughbreds at North Ridge Farm in Lexington, KY where she worked with foaling mares and yearlings. She moved on from there to work for Carl Nafzger as an assistant trainer and exercise rider. After the birth of her daughter she changed careers to handicapping for the Daily Racing Form. Once the Daily Racing Form closed its handicapping department in Lexington, Kim was very fortunate to land a position with Marylou Whitney Stables. She is now the assistant racing and breeding manager for Mrs. Whitney.

    Race 1

#5 Francois consistently post strong Beyer numbers on dirt, turf and synthetics. Making his 3rd off the layoff here and he turned in a good effort last with allowance company at Hawthorne. He looks like he can handle these. #1 Hey Cuz brings impressive Turfway form. Keeping similar company there he can boast winning 3 of 4 starts over that course. The 1 post hasn’t been very lucky this meet but this gelding looks good enough to overcome and land a share. #8 Whatthecatdrugin ran just 7 days ago here and was claimed out of that start. Showed off his early turn of foot in that one but had to settle for 2nd. Like him for part but looks like he may be a vulnerable favorite.

    Race 2

#4 My Perfect Ten is coming off the long layoff and makes first start for new barn.  Softer company than she has been facing and she is successful over synthetic surfaces. Like this mare to get the win. #6 Hurricane Girl was claimed out of her last start by the Maker barn. She has been a popular claim with good reason as she wins at 50%. This is the level of company she excels with and she should make her presence known. #5 Dark Nebula has one start and one nice win this year. The consistent filly gets Leparoux in the irons and deserves a look.

    Race 3

Two year old filly races are consistently won by the Ward barn here at Keeneland and he looks to have shot to grab this one too. #5 Mary At the Cove has consistent works and top jock Rosario in the irons. Rosario has been a regular in the Keeneland winners circle this meet. #9 E Built This City has a sharp gate work here at Keeneland. Barn wins at 20% with firsters. #7 Bluesville is also trained by Wesley Ward. Good race for a .10 Superfecta.

    Race 4

#10 Touch of Revenge is the longshot today. The Touch Gold filly has been fairly consistent over the synthetic surface. She stretches out to 2 turns and the change may prove to benefit her. #11 Frances Gardner loves this track but has been off since October. She is very capable at this level if she is fit enough. #8 Ghost On The Run comes off a win at Beulah. That circuit is a little soft but she has turned in some good efforts at Arlington and Hawthorne. That last win may have boosted her confidence enough to land a share here.

    Race 5

#3 Southpaw Slammer has solid Beyer numbers and couple of good works over the track. #6 He’s So Fine just missed last out at the $50K level. The Purge colt has improved since adding blinkers 2 back and looks to pose a threat here. #1 Evan’s Calling gets the 1 post which is not a good place to be this meet but he hits the board on a regular basis and looks good for part.
